Earlier this year, Huawei, the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, released the Ascend P7. Now rumours are swirling that a successor model for the handset called Ascend P8 will make its debut in Jan. 2015 during the CES event.

Even though the specifications of the Ascend P8 have not been officially revealed, details about the handset have come out. The Ascend P8 will reportedly feature a 5.2-inch display screen that will support full HD resolution. It will also sport a 2.5D curved glass. PhoneArena claims it will be similar to the curved glass present on the Apple iPhone 6.

The Huawei Ascend P8 will be equipped with a metallic body along with a ceramic rear panel and buttons. According to GSMArena, the appeal of the Ascend P8 will be one of its major selling features as the P line of handsets from Huawei always sport an impressive design. Android Authority claims that the handset might also feature a fingerprint scanner or dual LED flash with a revamped camera design.

The Ascend P8 will be driven by a HiSlicon Kirin 930 chipset from Huawei and will feature a 16 nm FinFET octa-core processor. The processor is currently in its testing phase, and its mass production will take off in the coming year. The exact clocking speed of the processor is not known yet. PhoneArena claims that the Huawei Ascend P8 is speculated to be priced at CNY 2999, which is equivalent to $489. GSMArena says that the pricing is quite competitive, but the Chinese manufacturer has a tendency to roll out its smartphones with expensive price tag outside its home country.

The Huawei Ascend P7 is a dual-SIM handset that came out in June 2014. It has a 5-inch IPS LCD display that supports full HD resolution and 441 ppi. The handset is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 910T Cortex A9 quad-core processor that delivers a clocking speed of 1.8 GHz. It features Mali-450MP4 graphics and 2 GB RAM. The internal storage of the device is 16 GB. The other features of Ascend P7 include external storage support of up to 64 GB microSD, 13 MP main camera and 8 MP front-facing camera, Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS and 2500 mAh non-removable battery.

Huawei Ascend P8 leaks with new porcelain design

By Luke Johnson

18 November 2014

Huawei has risen to prominence in the smartphone space in recent years, and now latest reports have suggested 2015 could see the Chinese manufacturer introduce something special.

Although best known for pumping out affordable plastic handsets, early reports have suggested the Huawei Ascend P8 – the as yet unconfirmed follow-on to the flagship Huawei Ascend P7 – will launch next year with a new porcelain form factor in tow.

While the thought of a phone made from your mum’s fine china might not sound like the best of ideas, fret not, this isn’t that sort of porcelain. HTC previously used porcelain on the HTC One S, with the material being given a Micro Arc Oxidation treatment to give it a super strong finish.

The leaks, which have originated from Chinese site MyDrivers, back up comments made by the company earlier this year.

Speaking exclusively with TrustedReviews recently, Huawei revealed it was already working on a new breed of ceramic handsets.

“The material is one of the most important things for consumers, not only because it will have the different feeling, but because it can make the different architecture,” Shao Yang, Huawei’s Chief Marketing Officer told us back at MWC.

He added: “We are trying out new materials like glass and ceramic so we will become less focused on plastic.”

As well a porcelain construction, the Huawei Ascend P8 leaks have suggested the phone will move to a new, 5.2-inch form factor.

Although concrete specs are still unclear, HiSilicon’s 16nm octa-core Kirin 930 chipset is expected to run the show alongside Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Huge leak reveals what may be some of 2015′s hottest Android phones

By Zach Epstein on Nov 18, 2014 at 4:05 PM

You’re probably not aware of it if you live in the United States, but Huawei has been pushing out some of the sleekest and most intriguing smartphones in the world over the past year. We reviewed the Huawei Ascend P7 earlier this year and it was quite impressive, and the company’s flagship phablet for 2014 — the Ascend Mate 7 — was also a stunning device.

Now, a new leak may shed some early light on Huawei’s upcoming new smartphones, and they might be some of the hottest handsets of 2015.

Mobile blog Phone Arena on Tuesday posted what it claims to be details surrounding several upcoming Huawei smartphones that will debut next year. The details were taken from what appears to be a leaked roadmap originally posted by Chinese gadget site mobile.it168.com, however Phone Arena did not post a link to the original page where it found the roadmap.

While nothing is confirmed, the devices listed on the roadmap appear to be huge upgrades from this year’s Huawei models.

Highlights include the Ascend Mate 8, which supposedly features a 6-inch quad HD display, a new Kirin 930 processor and a $650 price tag:coffee:; the Ascend P8, which is said to include a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a new Kirin 930 processor, 3GB of RAM and a $490 price tag:D; and the Ascend D8, which seemingly features a 5.5-inch quad HD display, a Kirin 950 processor, sapphire screen, 4GB of RAM and a premium $800 price tag:enjoy:.

The leaked roadmap follows below.

Huawei is definitely going places。

The same holds true for an increasing number of Chinese tech companies。

Of late there has been a revival in our genes of fondness for “gadgets” of all kinds。:D

Excitement for innovation and new stuff should continue and spread to the larger society, especially the new generation. Creating public images/heroes/models like Alibaba's founder Ma is a good way to get people into similar enterprises.
