HSBC to exit funding Israeli Arms

London-based international banking giant HSBC has decided to divest from Israeli defense contractor Elbit, The Jerusalem Post has learned. The move was hailed by pro-BDS groups as “proof positive” of “collective campaigning” against Israel.

israel death and end is near

What makes you think other banks won't take stakes which HSBC is exiting? Sure they are big but their portfolio in Israelis arms companies is not that significant that it would destroy Israeli firms. Everyone knows the value of the R&D that Israel has in military industry and they would only be too eager to fund it.

HSBC's loss here.

loss is not only in terms of cash.

By that logic, no one should buy or invest in American tech startups too. The point is, Israeli industry is prominent and if European investors pull out, Asian, American and African investors will jump in.

Honestly, it is European loss.

Sometimes principles are more important than cash.
BDS aim is to deligitimise the colonial settler state and it may need decades before it gets there.
Respect to HSBC.

Let' talk about sustainability about you as well. Terrorism in the name of religion all across the world isn't exactly multiplying earth's resources for everyone. In fact, it is doing quite the opposite if you didn't know this already.

From jihadi terrorism in Mali, to Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, civil war in Yemen, Iraq, Syria and even place away from Muslim world such as Philippines and India - jihadis have left no stones unturned to increase the anger of people around the world.

While Israel may have its own agenda, they have been able to cash in on this sentiment and have supplied weapons to anti-Jihadi forces ranging from military personnel to private military contractors.

And it will only get more serious. There is no question of humanity in an area which was responsible for spreading bloodshed beyond its own tribal conflicts to the rest of the world.

the Israel Gaza situation is separate.

No one knows what happened on 9/11 and thereafter

I agree these are two different situations. But the are also interrelated, as in one will feed into the other and only make it difficult for others to believe the victim card played by Gazans and West Bankers who are actually Syrians and Jordanians settled before modern Israel was established.
