PTI helping Oversea Pakistanies [Canada]
Salam & Happy Eid Greetings!

PTI Canada is offering to help overseas Pakistanis living in Canada, temporary or permanent residents, to register for voting in upcoming elections in Pakistan. PTI is lobbying, within and outside the government, to allow Pakistanis living abroad the right to cast vote in upcoming elections. Part of this process is to help update the electoral voting lists concerning the overseas Pakistanis in an efficient and timely manner.

Anyone can get his or her vote registered at any given time. To get one's vote registered, one must be of over the age 18 and have NIC card issued by NADRA. The process is simple but does require some commitment. However, once the election schedule is announced for election in your constituency, then the Electoral lists cannot be changed and no one can register during this period. You can only register once the elections are over.

Although, you may register your vote yourself when you visit Pakistan or through a family relative/friend living in Pakistan, we are volunteering to help you. The following process has been devised for voter registration:

1. Provide full name and address.

2. Provide electronically scanned or paper copy of CNIC card.

3. For security purpose double cross the CNIC copy like you do a blank cheque and write "For Election Commission only"

4. In addition I have attached an excel sheet which you may use to fill in data for more voters in your family.

After receiving this information from you we will send it to respective local PTI offices where forms will be submitted on your behalf and your vote will be registered. If you have any further questions please let me know.

EC approves right to vote for Pakistani expats

14 February,2012

The Election Commission has given right to overseas Pakistanis to cast vote in general elections.

During a meeting held under the chair of Election Commission Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, it has been decided that overseas Pakistanis will be allowed to cast their vote in the upcoming general elections.

The landmark decision would enable 3.7 million Pakistanis expats to exercise their right of vote to elect the parliamentarians.
The voting mechanism would be decided later in another meeting.
