I'm writing a screenplay which takes place in FATA, it's a shoot em type of movie.
How is daily life there? Are women allowed to leave their houses? DO taliban roam the streets just like normal people with guns and all and I know they lack law enforcement there and also heard the taliban act like the police. And what kind of cars do they drive lol?

Thanks in advance.

As long as no Indians interfere here and no ethnic attacks are made. I'm serious about this. I studied the whole Pashtunwali and other Pashtun culture.

I want to make a movie where all Pakistanis especially Pashtuns can watch the movie and can be proud of their culture (Which they already are). Like you watch a John Woo movie and say " Wow I wish I was Chinese".

Have moved this thread here so you could 'gain' some knowledge from the senior members who've actually been to FATA or lived there for some time. It would be interesting to know how your docu-drama turns out to be.

Moreover, very little is talked about how people in FATA live under the FCR, may be some members here could share anecdotes about the current living conditions etc etc

[MOD EDIT]
The person seems too oblivious of the conditions the people of Fata live in to understand their way of thinking, and whatever play he writes won't be as much from reality as a foreigner's.

No hard feelings, the both of you.

Surely if i was an ANP member i would have been the last person to be taken as fair on making an unbiased film/play on Urdu speaking people in Karachi.

Why do you think there is a difference between Pukhtuns in FATA and other parts of Pakistan ?? :)))))))) we are the same ethnic group.

ABOVE all No professional producer will make documentary just by asking the opinion sans facts on internet. If he is so keen he should travel to FATA, KP and film it ;)

Karachiite, Dude, Where are you living? This is NOT 2007 when whole of FATA was in control of Taliban, now law enforcement duties are with FC and Pakistan Army is on back up in most of the Militant-free areas, THERE IS NO TALIBAN CONTROLLED MAJOR AREA LEFT.

And about the women, well, there's a tradition, women don't go out without their "Mehrems" and btw this is a matter of least concern I guess, what you should focus on is that HOW miserable their life is NOW after being targeted by US's Terrorist Drones, almost everyday..

Elmo what personal attack??

he is an MQM supporter and we do not expect any fair portrayal of Pukhtun Pakistanis from MQM supporters. Its not a hard fact NOT to understand.

He had been using bad language in another thread so i dont feel like even trusting his intention on this thread which is no more than a bashing thread in the making

As Jana said it would be better if u travel to KP and gain first hand experience urself. That will look more real than just writing screenplay based on opinions of different people which always varies.

Have you traveled to all those places which you hugely defend in each and every hour here? :what:

for example Dantewada :pop:

Believe me I would have traveled to FATA but I'm too poor. And I can't get get any days off from my work as I just started working.
And I'm not making a documentary, it's a feature film that is based on a bounty hunter hired by the ISI to kill terrorists hiding in FATA. Its along the lines of Once upon a time in Mexico and John Woo's the killer.

And Jana if you have nothing better to contribute to this thread then don't bother posting because this isn't about MQM or ANP.

OT, and not trying to be disrespectful, FATA would make awesome plots for spaghetti western movies. That place would put Texas into shame. Pakistan doesn't have good film industry but not sure why anyone in Hollywood didn't come up with such plot.

Agreed, but only given current tensions between the two parties. But otherwise, only one of the two is an ethno-centric party, and I'd expect an 'Urdu speaker from Karachi' to make an honest rapportage of FATA.

Can we expect the kind lady to grow up and understand the subject before making a posting? Clearly the issue is 'life in FATA' and not 'pashtuns'. I haven't seen the other person's other threads, so over here to this neutral observer you're the one coming accros as the thread-spoiler. Only Elmo made a sensible comment - how is it having to live under the FCR without access to the usual legal process - did you (as a pushtana) experience such while living in Peshawar?

Again, stop bundling FATA and KP. Not the same living conditions. And movie made in KP trying to depict FATA will be equally dishonest.

I'm sorry I'll make some comments directed to your person, but nothing as ever in bad taste. This forum is teeming with teenagers, and people like you should be examples of a dispassionate line of thought, factual quality and integrity in their postings. There's a reason our people have developed a blame-the-other and do-nothing-and-wait-for-the-massiah ailments - education has crossed traditional boundaries and sources because of the Internet without us noticing, and it is giving them nada.

Let us understand one thing here. An educated person like yourself equating Urdu-speaking-people (Urdugoaan henceforth) and a political party like MQM does not reflect well on the intellect that this education has produced. More urdugoaan idiologically disagree with the MQM than everybody else combined, not because it's a party let's say representing an linguistic (not ethnic) group. Do you even realize that a major part of the urdogoaan of at least two of the three major hubs of Urdu are ethnic Pushtuns (and the metissé progeny thereof) who migrated to those areas during the last thousand years. Ah no there IS a difference between them and you, they've begun using reasoning while you're still into 'he's my kind and therefore right'! And with this Urdophone=MQM-supporter attitude you're doing a great injustice to the millions of them who stood against not for the MQM's ideals during its prime. I know you too stand for the same attitude when it comes to the ANP, and massive respect for that, but you have to rise above this caste-system-mentality. For all our sakes. And I'm not saying supporting one of either polit. party is wrong in itself, but killing the other because of somebody's political inclinations is, and so is blanket-judging an entire segment of the society is too.

You and I need to personally sit sometimes to hammer this out! Or rather, you and santro or blain2, they're your kind afterall!

Love and respect,
BP.
