Chinese High Commissioner to India Zhang Yan on Friday met Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi here and expressed desire for cooperation with the state in different fields. Yan informed Modi about plans to set up the fourth chapter of India-China Economic and Cultural Council in Gujarat.

Yan also told him about the programme chalked out for pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar to be held next month.

The Chinese envoy also invited Modi to visit China which he has accepted, an official release said.

Modi briefed Yan about lesser known relations between Gujarat and China since the Buddhist period to present day, and also about the progress made by the state in recent times.
