Things are fine though, some misguided illinformed protestors, a bit of heavy handed law enforcement to quell them when they mutated into riots, and dirty politics all around. Just another season in India, it'll pass, things will settle down.

This is a crossroads for India.
Depending on which faction gains the upper hand it has all the ingredients to break India, but it also has the potential to make India into a more democratic, secular and inclusive society.
It could have the catalysing effect of waking up the population to what could potentially happen to their country if this is allowed to be carried through to it's logical conclusion, and strengthen and unite the secularists to push back and reclaim the founding ideals of their country.
For that to happen their needs to be a strong united movement against the fascists that needs to pick up the rallying cry from the Muslims.
This however, could open up large fault lines which could risk a civil conflict.
The time though, is now. If these protests are allowed to peter out without a positive result for the protesters then you can kiss democracy and secularism goodbye.
We will see in the coming days which way this is going to go.

True. The thing is, enforcing true secularism will have overwhelming support from the Dharmis (Hindus) but will be strongly protested/rioted against by other more umm, rigid ideologies, shall we say..

I would like a non religious political match up here when the politicians have been rendered neutered as far as playing the religion card goes and let us instead argue on other important matters and how to fix them via economic and foreign policy etc. The "Hindu" right is only a response to decades of Congress led governments pandering to a certain minority and only for their votes so they could stay in power and plunder this nation's wealth. We've had enough of the Ghandys, and we have a lot of Muslims on our side too.
