Thank you.
Educate me how singing a song in a language an average Indian does not understand promotes public good & social well being & that too more than what it was all these decades past.
The National anthem too is an a language an average Indian does not understand. Much less remember it in total.
Yet one is required to memorize it and recite it when the occasion calls for it.
National song too holds a similar position in our Constitution and the song has a rich history of our freedom struggle behind it when it inspired Millions to fight for our freedom. The song is a reminder to us about the value of freedom and its true price.
Its also a song that reminds us of our cultural heritage and rich past. About the Social VALUES of our civilization which sustained our society and culture.
Music for this song was given my Rabindranath Tagore himself because he was inspired by this song.
As a matter of fact this song is FAR more inspiring than the rather drab "jana gana mana". Can you deny it ?
You just mentioned this song was not mandatory as per the Constitution.
Its like ' You must follow what I say, I need not".. thats what Rahul Kanwal brought out last night.
If the minister was in school, he too would have to sing it.
The minister is just correcting a mistake made in the past.
Rahul Kanwal is free to create moral outrage to push his TRP. Its the most common trick in the media play book.
