High time the ISI reforms its policies

You must be talking out of something else when you say the recruits were British Kashmiris. They might have given financial support but the foots soldiers were dillusioned Kashmiris from J&K and P0K.

No well to do British Kashmiris (Mirpuris) were foolish enough to embark on a certain suicide.

The branches of the JKLF were established in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in 1982, and in Indian-administered Kashmir in 1987. The JKLF was formed in May 1977 in Birmingham, & initially (from 1977-1982) had their recruits from Britain.

The paper mainly talks about their collaboration with the Sipah-e-Sahaba, & that group was only operational in the 90s.

But sir ji, was not the initial phase of the Kashmir insurgency -from its start in 1987 to early nineties - fought almost wholly by the Kashmiri recruits from either side of the border, of course trained by the PA/ISI ?

Correcto!
I only talked about the "Mujahideen infusion" in to the cocktail/brew.
In short the how/when/why of that.

In 1977-1982 there was NO insurgency in Kashmir and Kashmir was what it has been for centuries - a heaven on earth. :hitwall:

The group is still operational now, only it is not in India ;)

Question:
How active is JKLF now? And does it exist in its original form now? With its original aims and strength intact?
Corollary Question:
Who is Yasin Malik? What was his role in the past? And now?

As I said, the offices of the JKLF were established in Azad Kashmir in 1982, & J&K in 1987. There was no insurgency then. The British Kashmiris had started their recruiting & organization in Birmingham, Kashmir. Is that so hard to understand? :hitwall:

When/where did I dispute that the JKLF started in Birmingham or they established offices in P0K or J&K. ?

I just said that the initial phase of the insurgency (87 onwards till 1994) was wholly by Kashmiri youths - an absolute majority from J&K, P0K - who were trained by the PA/ISI.

Mate you are just too dense or you want to shift the goal post as you have done in this thread itself.

For your information, the JKLF were never an "Islamist" movement, they were a nationalist organization. They wanted independence from the state of Pakistan, as well as India. So obviously they were not supported by the Pakistan Army or the ISI. Can you provide me the evidence that they did? They were a separatist movement inside Pakistan, why would the Pakistan Army or the ISI support them? That's like saying that India supports its Naxalite movement. In fact, India claims that the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was created in 1989 to "keep a check on the growing influence" of JKLF. So how could Pakistan have ever supported the JKLF? You're contradicting yourself.

Pakistan has made countless arrests of JKLF members in Azad Kashmir.
