India’s first high-speed train project, Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), proposes to connect Panipat with Delhi in 45 minutes with trains running at 200 kmph. The trains will ply at 10-minute intervals. Designed on the lines of hi-speed corridors in South Africa, France, Japan, UK, and Sweden, the train will halt at 10 stations, a senior Haryana government official said.
On September 27, the Haryana government finalised the alignment for the RRTS on Delhi-Sonipat-Panipat corridor at a meeting under the chairmanship of Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Those living in Kundli, Haryana, can expect to save 15-20 minutes of travel time. The distance between Delhi and Kundli is about 31 km.

Amitabh Bhattacharya, president TDI Limited, the company developing TDI City on 1,600 acres of land in Kundli, said the hi-speed RRTS would not only help one lakh people move to the township, but will also boost the real estate sector as well.

After taking off from Kashmiri Gate, the train will halt at Badli, Mukarba Chowk and Narela in Delhi. Kundli will be the first station outside Delhi followed by Rai, Murthal, Gannaur, Smalkha and then Panipat.

At present, it takes around two hours by bus and 90 minutes by car to reach Panipat.
The Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Limited (DIMTS) is likely to submit the detailed project report by December-end to the NCR Planning Board.

NCR Planning Board had assigned the DIMTS to conduct a survey. The DIMTS has proposed train connectivity from Kashmiri Gate, Delhi to IOCL Complex, Panipat.

Haryana government officials say, the train corridor will be elevated for high-speed connectivity, which is likely to connect Delhi with Panipat in 45 minutes non-stop.

IIT-Kgp to provide rlys tech support for wagon

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, will not only help the Indian Railways to develop high-speed corridors through which passenger trains can move at speeds between 250-350 km per hour, it will also provide assistance for the Advanced Loco Pilot Training Centre (ALPTC) and wagon prototyping unit that are being set up at Kharagpur.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of these two establishments, IIT, Kharagpur director Damodar Acharya promised technological support in wagon prototyping.

"We would also like to develop simulators to train loco pilots. The IIT came to Kharagpur only because of the large railway set-up here. The Centre for Railway Research that is being set up at IIT, will be a one of its kind facility, not only in the country but also the world. We can't rely on technology from abroad but develop our own. As many as 14 different projects for the railways will be undertaken here," the IIT director said.

For this purpose, IIT will create links with universities in the US, Sweden and Australia, Acharya revealed.

The ALPTC, that is being set up at a cost of Rs 12 crore will help train drivers enhance and upgrade their skills, in keeping with the technological advancements that modern-day locomotives have undergone. Senior South Eastern Railway officials said that these courses would help in bringing down the stress levels of drivers. The course will include topics like meditation.

Railway minister Mamata Banerjee hailed this development and said that the railways would continue to work in close association with the IIT.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), on Tuesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide consultancy for a high speed railway line in Kerala between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod.

"This is DMRC's first-ever consultancy project for a high speed rail corridor and we plan to engage Japanese experts who have been associated with bullet trains, for the study. So far, DMRC has provided consultancy for the construction of Metro corridors in many cities of the country. A MoU to this effect was signed between Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) managing director Alkesh Sharma and DMRCs director (works) Mangu Singh,'' said a DMRC spokesperson.

As per the MoU, the DMRC will provide consultancy for a pre feasibility study for the 550-kilometre long rail corridor.

It is proposed that trains on the line be run at a speed of about 275-300 kilometres per hour :woot::woot::woot: :cheers:on the standard gauge (1,435 mm) high speed rail corridor. Initially, eight stations have been planned at Thiruvananthapuram, Quilon, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Calicut, Kannur and Kasaragod. Is this 200kmph average speed or highest speed?
I've never heard of the city Panipat. What's is this city's status in India? I mean, its economic or population rank in all Indian cities.

If some more similar trains were to run from cities / town in the NCR to Delhi it would help de congest Delhi and further develop the NCR.

Need similar trains from Rajasthan ( Jaipur) & UP ( Meerut , Hapur, Aligarh, Agra, Mathura)as well.
