ISLAMABAD: The government is mulling over the option of replacing Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar with Makhdoom Javed Hashmi as the matter was discussed in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday.
In the said meeting, the PM reviewed the country’s political and security situation and exchanged notes with his “kitchen cabinet”.
The meeting discussed the country’s overall political situation in the light of the protests and rallies being held by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as well as the recent by-election in Multan, which saw the defeat of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
Sources said the PM also considered the option of having Javed Hashmi appointed as next Punjab governor. The premier reportedly said he has great respect for Javed Hashmi who “did great job to save the democracy in the country”.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed, Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt Gen (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch and Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal were present at the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the country’s internal security situation as well as the recent conflict at the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong called on Nawaz and discussed matters of mutual interest. The PM may visit China in the first week of November to sign various energy projects.

‘Baghi’ may be new Punjab governor

Sure. "Badsha Salamat" ka agar order hona hay bus.

And why do people keep calling him Baghi. He is a fraud. Jumping parties multiple times does not make him a Baghi.

If they make Hashmi governor, politics will only polarize further. In the long term it will help PTI by justifying their decision to remove Hashmi. It would be good for Hashmi though. He will get protocol, a big house and no responsibility.
