Yes there are some reports that a section of the IN is pushing for this, although there is no official case for procuring them as yet.

By the way, the Indian Navy calls them Naval-LCA and not Tejas. Tejas name is for the IAF variant only.

The Tejas are a beautiful small planes. It would have been a plane to be proud of for Indians if it was indicted about a decade and half ago. It’s currently a vanity product rather than war fighting system.

Weapon Systems: Tejas is equipped with a wide range of weapons systems, including Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles, precision-guided munitions, and electronic warfare equipment. The aircraft's weapons systems are highly accurate and reliable, making it an effective air-to-air and air-to-ground combat platform.

Stealth Features: Tejas incorporates several stealth features, including radar-absorbent materials and reduced radar cross-section. These features make it more difficult for enemy radar systems to detect and track the aircraft, increasing its survivability in combat.

As a neutral observer i can say that Tejas is far superior to F-16 Viper in terms of advanced avionics, stealth features and manoeuvrability, However, F-16 Viper has advantages such as higher speed and range and a long history of combat operations. The superiority of one aircraft over the other depends on specific mission requirements and operational context.

As a polar bear, I can say that Tejas are crap and can't even stand up to a rickshaw.
