The Gripen E is much better than the J-10 in many respects, many of which being very important. The only advantage the J-10 has over the Gripen E is greater TWR. Everything else favours the Gripen E. One of the biggest selling points for the Gripen E is the higher endurance on internal fuel. The IAF also rates the Gripen E higher than the F-16 Block 70, so that should tell you everything you need to know.

Wouldn't you want the AESA+Meteor combo yourself?

Of course, there's also the point of not putting all your eggs in the Chinese basket.

Blk 3 itself will be on the same league if not of JF17....there is nothing to gain from this sanctions prove fighters...And Sweden itself is a NATO/American dependent country, they dont have an independent Foreign Policy like the rest of Europe. As we all saw in Iran Nuke Deal.

They r afterall an alliance of small countries which r otherwise insignificant on international relations.

And after watching the video it turns out that this @kahonapyarhai kid has shared the video abt Philippines Air Force's alleged interest shown in this fighter not abt Pakistan airforce and he just saw PAF name and then went crazy to share it and score some brownie points without even first looking at the video!

Explain in technical detail which parts of the Gripen E is "better" than the J-10 (which variant of the latter are you talking about).

I can just as easily claim that the JF-17 Blk III is "much better than the Rafale in many respects" if evidence wasn't required to corroborate that statement.

The maintenance and logistics are better. The base technology is better, the quality of the aircraft, avionics and engine with very good MBTF and MBTO values.

The aircraft's weapons layout is better than the J-10's.

The Gripen carries more fuel than the J-10 while with lesser thrust. The J-10 requires two fuel tanks to match the Gripen's range on internal fuel only.

Naturally the avionics are superior, as are the weapons, while also being equipped with a large array of weapons options.

So I thought my previous post was already well-understood. The only thing better on the J-10 is the higher TWR, everything else belongs to Gripen. Of course, there's no guarantee that gives the J-10 any real advantage either, since the Gripen has good enough TWR and can also supercruise to a certain extent. So even J-10's TWR advantage is suspect considering even the latest versions still operate the old AL-31F.

j10 has better range fuel and payload

See what gripen advertising does is that they out small star and fail to explain it

For example the payload...payload is max payload with minimum fuel required for takeoff(half tank!). You can google it it will come up in small text from official sources

Avionics etc is subjetive thing for now we really dont know..i think the only country that can say anything is onw who is operating both Chinese and American weapons(b50/52) like Pakistan

Engine i agree russian engines are cheaper but low life..as the whole thought process is production

Gripen-E is better if it is compared with J-10A.

The comparison becomes unclear when we consider J-10B or the upcoming J-10C variants.

@randomradio maybe you should give the comparison figures b/w Gripen-E vs J-10B and Gripen-E vs J-10C.

The image you posted above is that of J-10A. J-10 later variants have an uprated Al-31FN3 and the new & better WS-10 engines. Recently they even introduced a TVC version WS-10 on J-10B.

Do us a favor, in your comparisons, also state the thrust of the fighters' respective engines/power-plant, types of radar, clean head-on RCS of each fighter, advantages and disadvantages b/w meteor and pl-15, EW suite … etc.

Because no comparison without the above will be fair, but just ones own wishes.

Sweden will not sell it to Pakistan, and now it will not add much over JFT block-3 until later is not made on par with Gripen.
