Grid being set up to import electricity from India

I am all for a good business, but even I am kind off worried about this. India itself has power shortages, so I don't see why the government would sell it to the neighbors. In my own village there is power cuts of 3 to 4 hours every other day (specially during summer). Why doesn't the government share the power inside India instead of selling it.

India does not have any large power surplus to give it to Pakistan. Neither India is an energy exporter, infact India is a large energy importer. Pakistan should get the electricity from Iran since they have already offered Pakistan 10,000 MW of electricity at rate half of the IPP's. This amount of electricity is enough to take care of entire Pakistani shortage which is less than 7,000 MW and is cheap enough to show the door to the unreliable IPP's.

Pakistan & India have very similar 'conditions' in electricity:

Well I can assure condition in India is much better than Pakistan. Apart from this 50% of all Railtrack and 1/3 of Route length(single, double, Triple) are electrified. Here is another link.

Not trying to be rude, but why doesn't the Pakistani government open up the Coal mines, I have seen like twenty threads on the new found coal reserve and other energy reserve. They can easily supply for the energy need and export the excess energy.

@Pakistan: First negotiate on power tariff with India then decide on connectivity.

Buddy, do you really think Pakistan is in this stage to negotiate price like Bangladesh. Because right now they have shortfall of 50%+ electricity. Iran is saying they need at least 5 yrs to build powerplants and infrastructure to export electricity to Pakistan. Pakistan's textile industry is already ruined by electricity shortfall.

There are multiple problems on that front. First is the investment required to make large scale mining.
Also Pakistani coal specially the Thar coal is of a poor quality called lignite which makes it unfeasible for transportation since transporting this coal would consume more energy than the coal contains, so naturally all power plants have to be near the coal mines. The coal mines are in far away areas so alot of money is needed to make infra structure and power plants in those areas and build transmission lines from there to urban areas. Also this low quality coal needs high tech power plants compared to good quality coal which can be consumed by low tech power plants, this means the power plants are going to be more expensive. Then is the pollution problem.

If there is a way that opening up coal mines would benefit bharatis than there are bright chance, otherwise not.

No sir, I don't mean sell it to India, what i mean is sell the coal and try to get investment from foreign countries like China.

You have old data, my data is from 2011, yours is from 2008. In terms of electrification rates, Pakistan is at 62.6% & India is at 66% I believe.

As Far I know, in 2011, Pakistan had a deficit of 53% of electricity( I read that in Dawn News). Even the sole electrified railway line from Lahore to Khanelwal had been abandoned.

You're quoting old figures from 2007-2008. When Pakistan had 54% access to electricity, India had 56%:

calm down people, we are exporting the excess capacity (earning revenues in return).

PK is benefiting with a much needed power supply.

Our western grid has excess power which will go to waste (no it's not feasible to send it to deficient sectors) so why not sell it and create revenue and possibly better trade relations with PK.

According to World Bank data, India has 66.3% access to electricity (%), whereas Pakistan has 62.4% access to electricity (%):
