What's new

govt rolls out Electric Vehicle policy

so
what is the practical implication of this?
will our current Electricity Capacity be able to sustain this?
when will the common man be able to purchase an EV?

Good initiative but who will be paying for the electricity, which these verticals will consume for charge?

i think electricity capacity is not enough to sustain electric cars charging at large scale,in last week there was loadshedding in Islamabad which shows that our current electricity is hardly enough to meet consumer requirements at present

There are lot of new mega projects of electricity and soon we are going to have surplus energy. Electric vehicle also take some time. But I feel this is the catchup time. We should skip the fossil fuel engine tech and should invest in acquiring the electric vehicle tech to be produced locally.

As a result we can reduce the gap quickly between world and Pakistan automotive industry

Electric vehicles are expensive for middle class in USA
the expectation is that it will fall in price making it affordable for the masses

if its expensive for the middle class in USA
then it going to be extremely expensive for the upper middle class here......
I see no point in this policy then

For urban use I am fine because my house is solar powered (25 kva), I use around 10 kva peak per day and the rest goes to Wapda. The real funny thing would be when I travel to Islamabad and use my cousin's home for charging jacking his bills way up

You can engineers EVs on the cheap. Half of Liaoning drives mini-EVs that cost around $5k-$7k.

Electric equivalent of 150CC bike can cost around $500-$700.

And yes, EVs require less engineering, and are easier to manufacture. For as long as you can do bodywork, everything else is very easy.
