The Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Sunday said the government had no right to stay in power as it was failing to lodge protest against killing of innocent Bangladeshis by Indian Border Security Force on the borders.

‘The government does not have the courage to lodge protest against regular killing of innocent Bangladeshi nationals along the border. This subservient and worthless government

has no right to cling to power,’ she said.

Khaleda, also leader of the opposition in parliament, made the comments when Rasheda Islam, widow of slain advocate Nurul Islam, former organising secretary of Lakshmipur district unit of BNP, met her at her Gulshan office.

AHM Biplab, son Awami League leader Abu Taher, was sentenced to death by a court on charge of killing Nurul Islam. But president Zillur Rahman has remitted the death sentence triggering widespread protests.

Khaleda expressed concern at the presidential clemency to the death row convict and deterioration of law and order.

‘People do not want to see this government any more. The government should resign immediately for its failures,’ she said.

Khaleda urged the president to reconsider the clemency to the killer. She questioned how the president could demand trial of the killers of his wife Ivy Rahman who was killed in the August 21 grenade attack. ‘Would he pardon the killers of his wife,’ she asked.

Rasheda demanded execution of the court verdict against the killer of her husband.

The BNP chairperson said there was no rule of law in the country. ‘It seems there is no government in the country.’

Indeed, the Govt should resign.

I am sure Khaleda will do a better job and ensure that the so called Border Killings are stopped.

Khaleda is right that Bangladesh is an anarchy.

indo bangla border has become more of a circus where indian clowns can slain innocent weak people

I would only take you back to the killings in Pakistan by the lawless so that you can fathom what is law and what is disorder. I do so since it appears that you know fanny adams about the Indo Bangladesh border.

Now, would you also call what is happening in Pakistan, a circus? It is a circus, right?

And if one goes by your classification of 'clowns', would you also agree that Pakistan is chock a bloc full of 'clowns'?

:hitwall: i never understood this logic :hitwall: since day 1 I am seeing this threads being opened by Bangladeshis that, we are innocent in crossing the border but they are monsters in killing us while crossing attitude...what the heck!!!! why don't you guys spend some effort in educating your people not to cross the border illegally!!!! you guys keep crying as if you have right to do all illegal activities but others only have right to pamper you guys :hitwall::hitwall:

I haven't seen this cry baby attitude in any other nationals..:hitwall::hitwall:

^^ Lol @ Mahabarath. When Khaleda takes over the government she will open up the Indo - Bangladesh border and allow her people to cross into our territory at their own whim and fancy. Somebody should remind her that we helped to liberate Bangladesh in 1971 and not incorporate it into India. Therefore the border is defined and Bangladeshis need to respect our borders. Sometimes I wonder whether Khaleda and some of the Bangladeshi posters here believe that we put up the BSF at our borders to serve chaai and parettas to the Bangladeshis crossing over into our territory illegally

India has liberated Bangladesh, but must they (Bangladesh) be beholden to India throughout their lifetime?

While the Indian liberation of Bangladesh is pertinent and one should not forget, but Bangaldesh too has its own interests.

Therefore, it is ideal for India to build up an environment that is conducive.

I, however, am not advocating that India should lie down and play dead while Bangaldesh rides roughshod. I mention this in case I am misunderstood.

is border is some picnic place ?

yeah.... I went to several places of this indo-bangla border for this purpose....crossed the border once near sherpur jungle. The feeling is great and scary..One thing i noticed in those border areas..... in most of the places India's part is on higherland.... Where high land ends and plain land begins is indo-bangla border.... Noticed many bsf bunker in fox holes on hills. And Bangladeshis have to go to this plain land for agricultural purposes and also with their cattle to feed them... Last year i went to Jointapur, sylhet with 5 of my friends.... was taking pictures. Some local people shouted to come down from the hill as a person was shot only three days ago exactly there.... i wondered.... You don't have to cross the border... Go inside their viewpoint and you are dead. .

If an average Bangaldeshi citizen can cross over the Indo Bangladesh border and go roaming in India, then imagine what seasoned smugglers can do.

It also shows that the BSF is not trigger happy as being made out, because you, Bangla Fighter, who is no smuggler, could roam around in India and come back alive and tell us your story!

i was on india's side for a minute... Anyway indo-bangla border is porous... always i have seen BDR on duty. . .Constantly walking on foot in small groups patroling the border.... Difference is this they stop people from crossing border. . .Not kill them... Thats why you dont listen to their activities too much.... Come to the point. . You can't justify killing only because it is done by your country. . . They go to india to buy cow. . It also drains our money. Also our headache.. But we dont kill them... And if you continue to kill them ok ..Well hasina will not will be in power... And incident like 2001 will happen again and again... And Bangladeshis are not cowards.

And at night, these non coward Bangaldeshis (to quote you) do what to stop smuggling?

The non coward and the corrupt does not have to stop anyone! ;)

Whether you crossed into India illegal for one minute or less, maybe you do not realise the speed of a bullet and the split second it takes for target acquisition.
