Three tourism zone are being set up in cox's Bazar. One for the foreign tourists. Estimated investment 3 billion US dollar. Sonadia Eco Park(9467 acres) and Naf tourism Park(271 acres) are for everyone. While Sabrang tourism Park(1027 acres) for Foreigners. It will create 40 thousands jobs.

These tourism zones will be set-up in Teknaf region. In southern Cox's Bazar. A very beautiful video capturing the natural beauty and lifestyle of that region.

A bit confused by this. A place being developed within Bangladesh with tax-payer funded money can't be toured by Bangladeshis!?!?

Not at all.
BD is still a poor country and rich foreign tourists would not want beggars going there to harass them.
Excellent initiative that will pay for itself many times over.

Why would anyone in there right mind will visit Bangladesh, it so densely populated, no landscape, humidity is worst and even their food is not so great maach bhaat LOL

What is your opinion on this as you have local knowledge?
Actually, foreigners feel disconnected when they see thousands of local women go to swimming with salwar kameez on. Most of the time locals stand by the beach and watch while others swimming. Its very naive still not comfortable in a crowded beach like coxs bazar.
There are no good places to eat and drink even though they have great accommodation. Drinks are crazy expensive and socialization are very limited. Going from one place to another is another problem.

I think that BD itself would need to develop a lot more and have more than just a beach to offer in order to attract millions of rich foreign tourists every year.

Having a foreign only tourism zone is a good first step but we need the ability for foreigners to visit lots of other places in BD like Sylhet tea gardens, Dhaka and the Sundarbans. Very few tourists like to spend 1-2 weeks on a beach.
It will still be a good 10-15 years before the standard of infrastructure in BD gets to a level that rich foreign tourists feel comfortable moving around in.

Also having one visa for BD, India, Nepal and Bhutan along with the integrated transport network will allow those that want the diversity to feel BD is worthwhile visiting.

The greatest attraction of BD are rivers and islands and beach. I dont think we have any specialty in mountains and hills which they will not find in India, nepal or MM. If somebody wants to come to BD for echo tourism then rivers are the selling point. This is what is happening now in the form of cruise.

Plus we need to develop a unique Bangladeshi culinary culture away from 'Indian food' general tag. Recently Food Ranger reviewed Bangladesh. All his episode attracted million's of view. Many foreigners expressed their surprise and eagerness to visit. Calling our own dishes 'Indian' is stupid at best. It may have made sense running restaurants in other countries under 'Indian foods' tag, but if we want to develop our food tourism then we need to brand our own foods as our, not other's.

Mountain trailing in Cox' Bazar and CHT can be a bonus point along with beaches and islands. Most of the tourists are not after Everest like mountain to climb or visit. Our low hills and mountains can be as attractive as those in Nepal or India if we can popularize. I remember, one expert tourist liken CHT's landscape with Jamaica. Jamaica is a huge tourist destination for Americans. So, hills and mountain in CHT has it's value if properly utilized.

This is a welcome initiative. Cox bazar has so much potential for tourism and it's great to see government focusing on improving the tourism sector.
