The Yemeni rebel group Ansar Allah (Houthis) released a video on 12 February showing a Luna unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that it said was shot down near the Saudi border.
A still from the video released by Ansar Allah shows the EMT Luna UAV that it said it shot down near the border with Saudi Arabia's Najran region. (Al-Masirah TV)
According to German company EMT, which manufactures the UAV, the Luna has a range of 100 km and an endurance of more than six hours, depending on its payload. It is in service with the German military, which has used it in Afghanistan and the Balkans, but was not previously known to have been exported to Saudi Arabia.
The Luna is launched by a catapult and recovered using a net suspended from a crane.
