The old fool was bragging about his son studying in the US having an American girlfriend, then proceeded to tell everyone if they study well and get into top universities in China, they'll get to breed with the top elite of the country, and if they do even better by going to the US colleges, then they'll get to "cross breed" with elite of the world. Yes, he actually did use the term cross breed.

The West in the 19th century, 20th century, to 21st century is greatly different and changed the life of humanity greatly from one era to another era.

From the invention of the automobile, the airplane, electricity, medicine, the radio, TV, the computer, smartphone, robotics, ai, and soon android.

Look at the music genre, each era has its own music genre.

Another example is fashion, architecture, etc.

I wonder, what is the new big thing that came from China?

A student walks up to the podim, snatches the famous professor's mike and started to reprimand the professor for being a "west worshipper".

"Money is the only thing in his eyes, he believes that studying is only for money, this guy is a total west worshipper. What do we study for? We study for the great revival and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation" the student scolds the professor with a pointing finger.

In the end the student pumps his fist in the air and shouts: " My fellow schoolmates, let's study hard, for the great revival and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation".

The student's words and action win the applause from his fellow high school students and most students stand up and leave the auditorium in protest against the professor.

It's catching up.

Being at the forefront of technology is much harder than catching up. So yeah, China's catching up seems rapid, it has been that way for every economy that urbanized and industrialized itself, but at a point in the near future it will plateau.

China is leapfrogging over older technologies thanks to modern open-source technology sharing, the internet and also technology spying. Everything China is proud of is based on the scientific advancement of the west.
