GCC States Foiled Attempt By Iran To Occupy Bahrain
Al-Rasheed Urges Need To Up Security Measures
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The GCC states thwarted the attempt of Iran to occupy Bahrain when they took a decisive step against it, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting political activist Aisha Al-Rasheed. In a recent press statement, Al-Rasheed pointed out Iran was shocked after the GCC states, not just Bahrain, took a firm stand against its expansion plans, because it is used to hearing moderate statements from these nations. She said, Irans inability to implement its expansion plan in Bahrain is considered its biggest failure, especially if we take a closer look at its economic, media and financial investments to push for the execution of the plan. Obviously, Iran was supposed to base its future strategies on the success of its expansion plan in Bahrain but this did not happen due to the united stand of the GCC nations.
Al-Rasheed disclosed Iran was surprised when the Sultanate of Oman, which maintains good relations with Iran, supported Bahrain, along with Qatar and even Syria, which is regarded as a strategic Iranian ally. She added all the GCC nations have exercised their right to deploy Peninsula Shield forces to Bahrain. She is of the view that the failure of the Iranian plan in Bahrain will provoke protesters in Iran to revolt against the Mullah regime. Warning that Iran has again started laying down plans to penetrate the region through Kuwait, Al-Rasheed stressed the need for the leaders of Kuwait and other GCC nations to step up security measures due to the possibility that Iran will resort to violence to complete its sectarian project, away from the principles of Islam and democracy.
