There are hunreds meters of tunnels , some of them going outside the Hospital compund. This is only the tip of the iceberg , Shifa is a huge compound , it will take maybe weeks to expose it all , so do be patient.

It's not much better there. They can just be re-arrested for a thought crime or whatever the entity might invent. Or indeed just be executed for no reason at all. Safer in jail I think. If I was being released I would be very pissed off at Hamas.

On the other hand these are the last hostages Hamas will probably ever have and they are probably better used for some sort of all prisoners for all prisoners and an amnesty.

No one in the west will think better of Hamas is they release them. And most of the group will not survive this war, so I really dont see the point.

You can do so much with the hostages. You can have war crimes trials of soldiers. Show trials. like any prisoners they will admit to anything. You can televise their life, these guys are lacking imagination. You can really make a spectacle.

Or maybe they are releasing small kids. or the very old, who are not really worth keeping. Old people especially, they can die on you suddenly and are more trouble than they are worth.

How do you want Hamas to have such leverage when nobody is helping them? They do not have such leverage at negotiating table until people protest in mass and Israel's interests and image goes down the drain. Hamas is releasing civilian hostages. There are 170 captured soldiers that aren't going to be released unless all Palestinian hostages are released and the war on Gaza comes to a halt.

Well I would imagine the leverage are the hostages and prisoners.

Image? People have already picked sides, there is nothing any side can do to make them lose support from the people that support them.

You for example support the Palestinian side, if they had a bonfire, and burned all the hostages would you Start supporting Israel? If Israel nuked Gaza, do you think anyone in Israel or the west would suddenly start supporting Palestinians?

I dont think so. Then there are the neutral people and people who just dont care. Like the saudis at the dog festival. They will remain neutral regardless of who does what. So I would to factor that into any calculations.
