Hi guys, i know its not the right place to ask....but i dont have any experience with other defence forum.

How does one gain admission into the IMA( Indian military academy)? I am doing my graduate study as of now. Is there a screening test held nationwide? If so, please post the details. The chances of me getting recruited from college is next to nothing. Also, what are the pre-requisites for attempting this exam(if any).

Please let me know thanks.

First of all you got to write CDS[combined defence service exam] part of UPSC[Union public service commision] after you gget through it ..you ll be called for SSB interview [selection service board] which consists of physical, medical tests and interview..its the hardest to crack. Once your through that then you ll be called for training in IMA...go to some Indian army official website they ll explain better.

hi,

thank you for your prompt reply. If you dont mind me asking, what are the requirements for writing the CDSE? Or is 'graduation' the only requirement (without a certain cut off GPA)? Is it part of the civil service exam?

If he is younger couldn't he apply for entry into the Shivaji NDA, Pune? That's an almost assured route to the IMA.

No ITS NOT a PART of Civil Services Exam.
And Yes, Graduation is the Pure Requirement.

For More Details Visit : Combined Defence Services Examination

thank you so much sir.

In our college ( engineering college) when they came to recruit last year (our seniors), they had a prerequisite of 6.0GPA and no back papers. I have one backpaper which will only be completed 'after' the recruitment camp. So i was worried....and no....i have absolutely NO intention of going into the technical branch of our armed forces.

One more question xinix sir,

To get into RAW, does one attempt the civil services exam or CDSE?

No laughing please......

Im a man with a mission now :sniper:!

BOTH. As You Can Join RAW as an ARMY Officer and As an IPS/IFS Officer.. Both.

There is no direct recruitment exam for RAW [Research and Analysis Wing] which serves under Ministry of Home Affairs. High ranking serving members of Military ranks and IPS [Indian Police Service] officers are deputed to RAW for certain period.

Also You May Join By ......

1) U can join through armed forces army, airfore, navy n all the other special forces in it.

2) Through civil services like IPS, IFS n so on.being an IPS officer u can join in CBI, RAW n can remain in state police services. Its ur choice.

3)If u r a civilian u need a high level recommendation, even through u get in u probably find desk jobs. Its better to enter R&AW through IPS...so check out UPSC related website for the exams n requirements.U must put a great hard work to pass these exams n interview.

If u Wanna More Do Reply.

Hi, i too am aspiring to get into the IMA through the CDS exam. I'd love any sort of guidance from those with the experience of having attempted it. I am also preparing for the UPSC exams. Foreign services are my area of interest.

Optional ...?

Optional ...?

im not sure what you meant.

I am preparing to attempt them both. If i get into the army/airforce then there is no looking back. However, in the event i do not, i need something to fall back on that would still give me the opportunity to be a part of the administration.
