Players start arriving in Karachi as PSL enters its final leg
KARACHI: With Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) UAE levels complete, the tournament is all set to enter its Karachi leg for which the players have started arriving to the metropolis.
Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfraz Ahmed along with others arrived in Pakistan while few are yet to come.
Opening batsman for the Gladiators Shane Watson will be flying in tonight while Rilee Rossouw, Dwayne Bravo and Fawad Ahmed are also prepping up to join the rest.
On the other hand, Lahore Qalanders’ players will reach Karachi through two different flights today as well along with teams of Islamabad United and Karachi Kings.
While other Islamabad United players are ready to come Karachi including Luke Ronchi, Phillip Salt and Camron Delport England’s Ian Bell will be unable to join the tournament’s Karachi leg;
After getting disqualified from the playoffs Multan Sultans will have only one match in Karachi which will be played against Lahore Qalanders.
Peshawar Zalmi is the only team whose players have previously flown into the country for the earlier editions of PSL and will continue to do so this year as well, as confirmed by the owner, Javed Afridi.

IG Sindh hopes Karachiites will enjoy the PSL encounters and will once again prove that the city is safe.
KARACHI: Sindh Police Chief Dr Syed Kaleem Imam has said a special security plan has been made for staging the matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) including final at National Stadium in a befitting manner.
“We’ve prepared a comprehensive plan using latest technology for the smooth organising of matches starting from March 9 and culminating with the final on March 16,” Imam told newsmen after formally inaugurating Dr Mohammad Ali Shah Sindh Police Cricket Ground and Sports Complex at KDA Scheme No I on Wednesday.
He said besides deploying extra security in the city, forces have also been deployed at the Sindh-Balochistan and Sindh-Punjab borders to monitor movements of the people.
He hoped Karachiites will enjoy the PSL encounters and will once again prove that the city is safe for hosting the international sporting events.

Arrangements completed to host PSL in Karachi

Karachi is all set to host Pakistan Super League's last leg, which will start from Saturday.
Strict security arrangements have been made to hold the matches successfully.
Over 13,000 police personnel and 250 commandos have been deputed to provide security to the players from hotels to the stadium.
Karachi police chief Dr Ameer Sheikh, in a statement said the arrangements are being looked at personally, by the chief minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.
He said all security institutions are determined to make the event successful.
Dr Ameer Sheikh said all roads leading to the stadium will be closed for traffic on the match days.
The spectators will have to reach the stadium 2 hours before the start of the match after which stadium gates will be closed.
Four check points have been established for the audiences to ensure security while the audiences can bring their mobile phones and national flags however they cannot bring eatables with them.
Sindh Health Department has set up a temporary eight beds health care an emergency hospital at National Stadium Karachi to cope with any untoward incident during the game.
Meanwhile, Karachi Police have issued a traffic plan for the roads surrounding the National Stadium, during the PSL matches.
The road from Karsaz via Hasan Square to Agha Khan Hospital gate number-3 will remain closed for commuters.
Roads on back of the National Stadium will be closed for the commuters, however, residents can use these routes by showing their original national identity cards.
Commuters can travel by using the routes of Agha Khan and Liaquat National Hospitals from New Town stop.
Sharah-e-Faisal and Rashid Minhas road will remain open for traffic. Citizens travelling to Karsaz and Dalmia will have to use alternative routes.
Five parking areas established to facilitate visitors. Four parking areas will be at the University Road and the fifth will be at Dalmia.
Spectators will be transported to the stadium from the parking area via shuttle service. Spectators are also asked to bring their tickets and original CNICs.
