France eager to invest in India

NEW DELHI, DEC. 7:
France still considers India as an attractive investment destination despite the Government's flip-flop on FDI in retail.

“I can understand (it is) not easy to change a system which has been working for some time. We are watching the debate. I am spending all my time convincing (French) companies to come here. Sometime it is more difficult for SME companies. It is necessary for French companies to be more active here,” the leader of a visiting French Parliamentary delegation, Mr Nicolas Forissier, newspersons late on Monday.

The French Parliamentarian added that there were several companies like Carrefour which would like to develop “partnership and commerce” with India, a move which could lead to better prices.

The visit is an attempt to have contact at the highest level of power with Indian parliamentarians. During its visit the delegation will travel to Bangalore, Chennai and Puducherry.

Commenting on the defence and nuclear deals, the Parliamentarian said that France “agrees with and was full of admiration” for the fact that the selection process had been extremely serious and transparent. “This is something that we appreciate” Mr Forissier said.

if foreign companies are so eager to Invest in India then Indian Govt should allow them to invest in Manufacturing sector...heavy machineries,Aviation sector{spare parts of Airbus},electronics and all...

I wish this MRCA is cancelled. A total waste of money when much better product will be available in couple of years.
If they commit $ 3 Bill. for the development of LCA, we will be able to produce 400 LCA in 17 Bill.

Althrough i don't agree with you on cancellation of MMRCA contract as it is too late to do that...and we will loose our credibility by doing that....but as faar as LCA tejas is concern i agree with you...

Which is the much better product (than the EF or Rafale) coming in a couple of years?

FGFA.......

FGFA available in a couple of years? Yeah right. Sorry to disappoint you, but thats not happening.

And in any case, we are not going to field a full 5th generation force. No country other than the US will. Even Russia is going to invest in SU-35, and all european countries are going to use 4.5 gen fighters. And all countries in the region. Fourth gen fighters will be the bulk of all air forces in the foreseeable future, except the US.

Finally someone thinks like me...There is no need for such over priced planes when we have other areas which need attention

The induction of FGFA will start at most a couple of years after the planned induction of MRCA...There is no need for 100 Mil. $ 4th Gen plane...Saurav is right...

Not even the PAK-FA (forget the FGFA) is going to be inducted 2 years after the MRCA. As of now, 3 flying prototypes of PAKFA exist. Look at the LCA to know what more hurdles it has to go through. The avionics, radar, communications etc have not been fully developed. There are a lot more things it has to do before being given an IOC and and FOC (or their equivalents). Then a production line has to be established, and production has to start. On the other hand, the EF and the Rafale are already dropping bombs in wars, and are fully operational in several forces. The rafale has been doing that since 2001. We are talking about very different timelines here. And we know how well Russia sticks to timelines (sarcasm alert), I don't have to point out examples. If you think all that is going to take place within two years after the planned MRCA induction, I will have to say I'm skeptical. We are talking of all sorts of electronics and avionics integrations, weapons integrations, etc etc, and then starting up a production line.

Also, these birds fulfil different roles, as I said. We are not going to have our entire fleet composed of 5th gen fighters - no country is, except the US. The next best thing we will need are top of the line 4.5 gen fighters, and this is the only option. Nothing comparable is coming. The LCA fulfils a still lower category, and cannot compare with this category. WE need all three. The bottom line is that we need a minimum of 800 fighters - cannot be all FGFAs.
