Guys we are talking about 2 extremes ... 9 year age , definitely not right ... It should be the natural age of puberty of girls and boys which are around 14 ...

18 also not right as naturally human body gets attracted towards opposite sex from age of puberty so if you restrict them then they will get arrange in haram means of satisfying natural designs ...

We need comprehnsive social reforms ... where restriction should be based on laws of nature whereas as a society we should make it part of our education system to treat our in-laws as no different then our own kids and parents ...

We should promote education after marriage ... Its not necessary that we should blindly follow west infact the right approach should be to capitalize on our best and leave our bad habbits ...

Our family system has some negative points but it is still way better than west therefore we should not compromise on that however, giving space to married couple and treating them as your own born child is the area where we need to work on ...

The problem lies in our society where even small things are taboo e.g. female health, personal wellbeing, sexual health etc. We are raised in an environment where many of us don't talk about personal stuff with our parents. The reforms which you talk about will come from implementing mandatory lessons per week where "Personal and Social Health Education" is delivered just like in Western countries. This should help ease stuff like this. Besides, the reforms don't happen in 1 or 2 years. It takes a whole generation of people before the reforms become successful.

Even previously it was 16 years, so it was illegal according to previous law too.
This situation is wrong on all accounts, according to Islamic teachings and our marriage law.

I think 16 with the consent of Parents(like in in some countries of Europe/ Some states of the US) and 18 without consent should be the target. It’s the best of both worlds.
