FGFA or Rafale "Which One"

Abingdonboy.

If the rafale deal is signed I will apologise to you ..

At this stage it's dieing deal
Let's wait a few more weeks, as per the latest reports the DM has asked the CNC to present their final report by the final week of this month or the first week of March. Until then this is all mindless speculation.

They are not mutually exclusive, NOTHING the IAF has said would indicate they are. Just by 2022 the Indian military is going to spend $620 BILLION USD on defence (capex and opex) and from 2022-27 the figure will be more than $800 billion they can afford the two quite easily, case closed.

That 620 billion is from now to 2022.its not annual defense budget.
I think India should go for RAFALE if it can work out a term with Daussault.

Did I say it was annual budget? I quite clearly indicated it was a cumulative figure encompassing not just capital expenditure budgets but also operational expenditure budgets.

If that is the case 660 billion is not a lot of money. India should spend it wisely.

If Sukhoi was the answer, MMRCA with the precious time it has taken; wouldn't have been conceived in the first place. India would've already cleared its head about how many more Sushkas are needed including consideration for 'Fullback' and weapons+sensors.

And if the day has come that even amateurs like us are sure that it's not coming, authorities should've seen it coming for at least a year and their plan B with IAF as apex member in finalizing what it wants from jet when it starts to roll at runway, and thus saving the MMRCA. India should have shown interest in E.F or Hornet during last year and assert pressure on french and finalizing the deal and if didn't, might've worked out with another appropriate machine.

Russia hasn't matured the true Multi-role concept till date let alone the Omni-role Rafale offers. They are number guys and have different aircraft for different roles. Even export variant of their fighters would've gotten secondary strike capabilities only if customers asked for( not to mention help from your zionist friends in getting A-G capability ). Otherwise you were receiving thoroughbred fighters bred for single role with not the best available sensor suite. Didn't even develop a targeting pod and went for French one.

I would be happy if India goes for more Sushkas but India shouldn't. And with more Sushkas, then they wanna go head-to-head with China who can manufacture 'em like pencils if they want.

While I certainly doubt it, what is the worst case scenario? The Rafale Deal falls through.. what is next?
I think the worse one could get is a restart with new terms.. its not like the EF consortium will step in or the IAF will make the ultimate stupid mistake of ordered yet more logistic intensive MKIs.

Between the Def Min who has ruled out the L2 (EFT) bidder getting back into the race and has, stupidly, declared the MKI as a suitable substitute for the Rafale and the IAF who have stated there is no plan B, I find it hard to see what options are on the table beyond more MKIs. No way will the MMRCA bid be restarted, the IAF in 7 years will be inducting the FGFA, LCA Mk.2 will be in service and the AMCA will be at flight test stage.

As such it is now do or die for the Rafale deal- and both sides know it.

Hi,

I think the time for Rafale has come and gone----. Once approved---the first batch of this aircraft should have been in service within 3 to 5 months as the French did not have any other commitments.

It is just like Pakistan having a Grippen capability aircraft in service in 2014 that they should have had in 2005.pAF could have had a Rafale by 2005 as well.

Will AMCA be at flight test stage? What if the first flight of AMCA still has not occurred by 2025, would that change your opinion of getting MMRCA. isn't the existence of MMRCA. Because of the delay in MCA.

The MMRCA has absolutely nothing to do with the AMCA. The "delay" in the AMCA didn't trigger the MMRCA competition in anyway. Anyway the AMCA is more than likely going to be ready for service in the mid to late 2020s but this doesn't change the fact that the IAF needs a replacement to the MiG-21s/27s TODAY, in fact, YESTERDAY. The AMCA is intended to replace the upgraded Jaguars, the MMRCA to replace the MiGs.

The Rafale needs to come or the IAF has to resort to plan B, something they aren't prepared for (so they say) and the MoD believes means more MKIs which would just hurt the IAF in the long run.

Like I said I fear the worst for rafale and felt this since April 2013...

More mki will be a disaster .

We need more tejas mk1 and mk2 to be developed quicker....

Still don't think we're calling off the deal

Anyway it's just 2-3 more weeks wait, let's see how it manifests

How can French offer on time delivery and current age feature with old price tag?

I think just like a European car the price for Rafael is too big. Indian can't afford it now since it makes no sense to buy older technology .

India should be looking for fgfa and su30. These classes of weight are stupid aspect. India can very well go for more su30and m29.

I wish they spend some time in very own amca which is possible with watchdogs keeping closer look on project. Time has changed. We can get professional deliveries from our org.
