Facebook’s Hate-Speech Rules Collide With Indian Politics

Absolutely. The hypocrisy and favouritism is mind numbing. It is funny that Zuckerberg lectures Pakistan on freedoms and humanity. Yet here his own company is favoring India despite a terrible human rights record. Facebook is not an exception.Twitter and almost all other US tech companies have applied the same hypocritical standard.

You are correct. Under Trump, India has now USA firmly on its side, so that situation will be there.

But if the Democrats regain the US government, Narendra Modi's ambitions will be greatly curtailed. He will learn to remain quiet as both Biden and Harris have been greatly critical of the BJP.

But but but India is secular and democratic. The liberals in India don't live in a closed bubble of delusion while the crazees haven't taken over their country. The constitution of India preserves democratic and secular principles and the church and state are reliably separated. The media jealously guards these constitutional guarantees and the courts are not broken - for example, they'd never accept a religious deity in Lord Ram as a lead plaintiff in one of the most divisive and controversial court cases in India's 73 year history.

I'm not so sure about that, American establishment, meaning the political, military, and business class has decided to bring India to their side. They've wanted this since before Indian independence, for the first time, with the rise of China, they can see it happening. I remember watching some interview before I joined PDF in which a story was recalled, about how they took a close member of the Nehru family for negotiations and to sense Indian leadership thinking, around the mid-1940s.

To be honest, I couldn't care less about what happens, but, it saddens me this road will lead to a bigger gap between our nations and more importantly between our people. People need to meet and communicate to build bonds, those opportunities will become less and less.

What is Facebook's main product? The consumer who uses Internet. All their data can be sold and resold several times for a lifetime of profits.

Zuckerburg (who went to Harvard and dropped out later) is way smarter than India's 56" clown. The only reason he's listening to his BS with such rapt attention is because he has billions of dollars to mint from the Indians.

Modi can only speak in a rhetorical style which appeals to his fanbase of low IQ Hindutvadi midgets. No educated or accomplished person will listen to his speech without a look of amusement and derision.

He's a damned chai-wallah after all. Nothing intelligent has ever come out of that mouth. But it does suit the Indian nation perfectly (average IQ = 82).
