ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday appointed another man, who served at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as the deputy governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), ARY NEWS reported.

Murtaza Syed is currently the second such appointment at the top hierarchy of the SBP after the incumbent state bank’s Governor Reza Baqir had also served for the international financial body.

A notification for the appointment of Murtaza Syed as the deputy governor of the bank is issued from the Finance Ministry on Monday.

He had served at the world’s top financial body as the deputy division chief in the IMF’s strategy, policy, and review department. He remained posted in China, Colombia, Greece, Korea and some countries of Europe while serving at the IMF since 2004.

Before joining the Fund, Syed worked at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London and the Human Development Center in Islamabad. He has a PhD in economics from the University of Oxford.

Those who believe in conspiracy theories, before bad mouthing someone, try getting a job in organisations like World Bank and IMF where merit comes before parchi! If someone is good in what he does, no matter where he practices his profession, he is equally good everywhere!

The criticism is not about them not being talented. Infact ppl working in such institutions are very talented, usually high IQ ppl. The thing is they come with an agenda and they cannot be trusted to be having pakistani state's best long term interest at heart.

Yes people like Ishaq Dar and Nawaz Sharif have always had Pakistan's best interest at heart, can you show me the rivers of milk and honey that were flowing when these people were working day and night for the betterment of Pakistan?

Ur comparing politicians to SBP policy makers. No one said they had any good interest of the country, but neither does the current one. We didnt see rivers of milk n honey in past, neither are we seeing anything now.

Only a naive or fool will compare 10 years (of previous Govt) with 1.5 years (of current Govt). And even in these 1.5 years, the economy is improving somewhat, so sit tight and let PTI complete their FULL term and than judge.

Having experienced 2 2 terms of jamhorriat and a decade of dictatorship cum jamhooriat and then again a decade of noora and zardari jamhooriat, we have lived it over and over again. In my opinion only a naive fool would not learn something from the past. And what is happening now very much feels like dejavu.

And is it dictatorship's fault when jamhooriat was given a chance they were busy looting the country with both hands, right?

What is happening now very much feels like dejavu, maybe, maybe not, time will tell, but those are 1000% fool who believe IK is second coming on Nawaz and Zardari.

Just like how an engineer dreams to work at Boeing, or Airbus, or Raytheon, or NASA, or FAANG, economists dream to work at IMF, World Bank, ADB etc.

Ham logon nay is ko koi aik gunnah hi bana dia hai.

What else do you expect him to do after a PhD from Oxford? Work at Bank Al Habib?

News paper deliberately spreading news like these highlighting IMF as some great sin instead of a person's capabilities should be dealt with an Iron hand. Misinformation is being spread by this fake media outlets to spread anarchy. This should not be allowed. Period!
If Pemra can cut a PM's speech how come this is allowed?

I have no issues with the appointment. People like him and Reza Baqir are professionals of very high calibre. My problem is with the hypocrisy people show. When your own party government appoints people, they are professionals, when your opponents make such appointments, they are accused of being foreign agents.

another IMF "sicario" given control of state bank .

reportedly, this man is being paid 1.8 million ( just to print money and inflate the economy )

------------------------------------------------

Thanks God we are doing appointment on merit basis instead of metric failed as relative.

how do you claim he was appointed on merit ?
