Here's something to think about when you hear politicians talk about the federal budget deficit: every single Hellfire missile fired in Afghanistan costs $58,000.00.

U.S. and allied forces are dropping huge numbers of these bombs in Afghanistan this year:

So far this year, coalition aircraft have used 4,615 bombs and Hellfire missiles, already exceeding the 4,184 dropped in all of last year.

Air strikes using Hellfire missiles and other munitions kill civilians and make us less safe, and they're a prime example of the waste of the Afghanistan War. If politicians are looking to really cut the deficit, they should start by ending this disastrous war that's not worth the cost.

as a US citizen acutely familiar with the political environment here. I can say that I do agree with you about your assessment of the war in Afghanistan. There has to be an exit strategy, which as it seems now - is moved to 2014.

majority of American citizens don't support a continued engagement in Afghanistan, but if you want to me to be frank- It's an overwhelmingly concern in the US that 99% of terrorist activities towards the US has it ties to terrorist organizations in Pakistan.

Now you may vehemently disagree, but these are the facts and that's all I'm going to say about it.

BTW Cant any Pakistani -American sue CIA in US court for collateral damage due to such air raids.

Bhai ho sakta hai koi aitraz kar day k yeh 58000 nahi 58000.09 hai is liye ahtiat malhooz khatir rakhi gahi hai lol;)

Now what you fail to understand is who footing the bill ? Guess whooo It is China with Huge American Dollars debts.

Nothings gonna change America will keep their printing paper press well oiled for decades to come.

Here is a quote from Ben Bernanke about the well oiled printing press .. quite funny

What has this got to do with monetary policy? Like gold, U.S. dollars have value only to the extent that they are strictly limited in supply. But the U.S. government has a technology, called a printing press (or, today, its electronic equivalent), that allows it to produce as many U.S. dollars as it wishes at essentially no cost. By increasing the number of U.S. dollars in circulation, or even by credibly threatening to do so, the U.S. government can also reduce the value of a dollar in terms of goods and services, which is equivalent to raising the prices in dollars of those goods and services. We conclude that, under a paper-money system, a determined government can always generate higher spending and hence positive inflation.

what a great 'technology' the printing press is , isnt it

benanke then and now are two separate stories. that speech was before the global crisis and it is fact that the FED is printing 600 billion more to devalue the dollar. Inflation is still relatively low and this " print" is a calculated risk.
