Just weeks after Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya was suspended for his controversial remarks on Koffee With Karan, his alleged former girlfriend Esha Gupta landed in trouble as well. The Bollywood actress was slammed by Twitterati after her racist comments on Arsenal's Nigerian-based footballer Alexander Iwobi went viral on social media platforms.

Esha, an avid Arsenal supporter and an ambassador of the English Premier League side, criticised Iwobi's performance in the club's recent game on a Whatsapp conversation with her friend that she later shared as an Instagram story.

"Solves our winger issues. I can't see that gorilla faced Iwobi running down the flank again. He's so bad ya,'' read the screenshot, which according to IANS, was written by Esha's friend. As a reply, Esha typed out: "Haha... I don't know why they don't bench him more."

Following the criticism on Instagram, Esha took to Twitter to apologise for her words. She tweeted, ''Guys I am sorry you thought it was racist. Was bad on my part, being a sports lover. Sorry guys, forgive the stupidity.''

She later clarified her words during the Whatsapp conversation as out of frustration and that she failed to realise it was directed towards racism. She tweeted, "It was us discussing our frustration during the game.sorry as I din realise it directed towards racism.laughed over the spur of the moment, which was the games result guys.been victim of racism myself before. But this is not something m proud of. It was a fault, sorry guys"

It was only earlier this month that her alleged former boyfriend Hardik had made a few controversial statements on Koffee With Karan for which he was suspended for the ODI series against Australia and the tour of New Zealand. But on Tuesday, CoA in accordance with BCCI had lifted the suspension to allow him to join the Indian side in New Zealand.

He played his first international match on Monday since September 2018, in the third ODI against New Zealand where he picked two wickets in India's comprehensive seven-wicket win. India hence leads the ongoing five-match series 3-0.

So much for being holier-than-thou. At least Hardik was very frank and not hurtful in any way in today's time.

She's worse than him a 100X. For someone who criticised him alike a hypocrite feminist wannabe, karma came back to her.

i support arsenal and i don't like her comment.iwobi not in good form but racism is not allowed.she is arsenal brand ambassador lol.
