@ One think I am not understanding, how come a court can declare 5th and 7th amendment illegal.
@ The 5th and the 7th amendment of the constitution was duly passed by the sovereign parliament, it is immaterial whether it was enacted by the martial law government or some one elses.
@ What AL government had started ? They are recruiting the judges from own political parties and giving verdict as per their sweet will. This cannot continue in a democratic country.
@ Martial law is no law, it is illegal but again it is superior to constitutional law. Once their activities are ratified in the parliament then it is a valid law.
@ Where AL wants to take own country ?
@ Does the AL thinks by doing so they are save ? And sure to come to power again or remain in power for eternal period ?
@ All these activities of AL is paving the way for another revolution in our peaceful country.

@ Ershad was far far better than these two political parties.:victory::victory::victory:

Ershad was a dictator nevertheless. But I agree, those times were good. At least better than under the two women we are under.

Getting another dictator right now would make things worse.

Ershad is currently a joker in politics

YOu forgot about 1973 election. After the constitution they called for general election. Before that it was a interim government based on Mujib Nagar Sarkar formed 16 the of April 1971.
It took them a year to finish the war and another year to hammer out the constitution. If 1970 electio was illegal then How Bhutto ran Pakistan therearfter? At least they were people's representative.

1973 election was the most violent and rigged election in BD.

Bhuuto was running on West Pakistan election result, additionally its a Pakistani issue.

I don't know why Islamic Nations (more so in the subcontinent) like military dictators and autocratic yahoos like the obscurantist Sultans and Sheiks to democratically elected ones.

Why then have democracy?

Let the military rule!

Or anoint a Sultan.

We should not forget the events of what happened after the Liberation War. Specifically during the Mujib reign.

The case of Col. Taher made sh*t hit the fan!

Notwithstanding what hit the fan, there seems to be a definite dislike for democracy is what one feel here amongst the BD boys.

So damn democracy.

Get one of the Begums to be the Sultan or have the Army Chief as one!

End of problems and whines!!

We have a family who thinks they are de facto Sultans, but they are about to get kicked around the deck.

Jagan Reddy has challenged them!

It will be an interesting match since the good old Papa (Pope in English) backs both. One of course has Italian birth!:woot:

On topic:

Apple does not fall far from the tree. Mujib was a henchman of Sohrawardi, she is not gonna be any different. She is attempting to sanitize his past.

"I have a kind of alacrity in sinking" - Falstaff quote.

Isn't Falstaff, the never-do-well who was Prince Hal's companion in Henry IV; and he is just as fat and lascivious in The Merry Wives of Windsor.

So, the Merry begums are failing?

Thanks for your concern, but I always aced in comprehension back in school and college.

If a dictator comes to power, most Bangladeshis would oppose it. Also Western countries and Japan will sanction Bangladesh.

Dictators would become extinct in the next few decades or so.

So spake Sir Oracle?

Have you also aced in foretelling the future as a gypsy?

The thread has nothing to do with religion, you are the one attempting to inject religion in it. If you got nothing of substance to contribute, I suggest you keep your peace.

Comic relief?

No the question is you aways try to stereotype things.

When you show moral high ground regarding democracy, may I ask you few things.

1) Dont you think India also would had gone under military rule if Indian army had the capacity to take that over. India had a functional democracy only because nothing else will work.

2) You had a democracy which still could not get out of the palace of Neheru familly. Is it something to proud of?

3) You had a democracy which elects most corrupt segment of the society.

4) YOu had a democracy where Joy Lolita get elected.

I can talk a lot .. First clean your own tarf than come to others.

Sad part is that you have no clue about India.

There were many occasions that the Military could take over. Read History after Independence. But it is not what is our legacy.

Though in Indian history there are instances of Mugal killing or imprisoning the Ruler for the Crown, that legacy has not genetically or otherwise permeated into the post Independence Indian psyche. Given the psyche in the neighbourhood, we thank the Lord for small mercies.

Well the Nehrus are Congress. Congress has been toppled many a time. The States don't have the Congress. So?

Congress is not India!!

What is Joy Lalita?

I only know Joy Bangla!

And Joy Joy saban, sundorto jodi chan! :)

Shakespeare is not going to help your trolling, discuss on topic.

BD posters ignore the troll.

Good call.
Now the catch is something like this,
when Ershad regime becomes illegal
so does his amendments, deed, contacts etc etc.

So if he's the one who introduced Islam as the state religion
(correct me if I'm wrong)
What happens to the context and aftermath ?

Birds call and so does nature.

Now, which call was it?

Islam cannot be a State Language!!

That is something impossible!!

I am correcting you since it is wrong (as you wanted).

^^Theres a word "Typo"
now let me define it for you

"A typographical error (often shortened to typo) is a mistake made in, originally, the manual type-setting (typography) of printed material, or more recently, the typing process. The term includes errors due to mechanical failure or slips of the hand or finger, "

Don't write tripe and I will not descend to your level.

As they say - Live and Let Live!!

As far as Shakespeare goes (some people feel he is Sheik Pyare), I aced in Cambridge.

Forgive that immodesty, but then I did a Zabanya, just to keep pace!

I see you have 'little man syndrome.'

Definition: "Little man is someone who tries to be somebody on the Internet."

Even if you aced your whatever sh*t ( pardon my 'Oxford') you are claiming, how does that relate to ' Ershad regime illegal ' ?

Stop acting like a fool.

It also means a weak mind.

Disorientation.

Not to mention adrift, all at sea, astray, bewildered, discombobulated, lost, mixed-up, not adjusted, off-beam, off-course, out-of-joint, perplexed, unbalanced, unhinged, unsettled!

Why are you whining?

You wrote that you should be corrected (if wrong).

I merely corrected you as desired.

What's the cause of your shenanigan and brouhaha?
