Yes, one of the requirements is to follow basic human rights.
Can You name one major Muslim country which will fulfil that requirement?
Fake democracy is what turkey is gonna experience under Erdogan. Mark my words dude, all your democratic freedoms that you had enjoyed will be slowly taken away by erdogan. Why does USA remain under the illusion that it should decide how the rest of the world runs their countries?
We are pretty sick of your actions, you have caused millions to die (including women and children) with the wars you've started with the fake "democracy" BS.
Well, there is disagreement on what 'basic human rights' are. Muslims don't recognize the right to descend down to the level of animals.
No, there is no disagreement
The Human Rights are defined by the UN.

Either You accept that, or You do not become a member of the EU.
Name one Major Muslim state that accepts this declaration and uses it
as a major criteria when forming laws.
I read that they called themselves Romans, not Byzantines. The people who considered themselves descendants of the "Byzantines" mostly left after WW1.
There are probably a few left though.
Hey, I am not saying we accept it. I am just saying there is no need to accept it. It's barbaric in its implementation, which calls to question the efficacy of its formulation. Show me one country where it is followed to the letter?
It is also quite insidious, in that it leaves room for much interpretation. Show me one country where it is interpreted for the benefit of everyone?
The Barbarism is typically shown by people not accepting the declaration.
Pakistan voted in favour of the declaration.
Yet there are laws which violates the declaration.
Anyone can violate the declaration, and most do, but when violations are high lighted,
there will be a correction, and the violation is not repeated.
Muslim countries generally ignore such criticism and continue the violations without shame as far as I can tell.

The 60s/70s/80s/90s were different times for Turkey. In economic/military/political aspects. What benefit does the potential accession to EU provide Turkey?
You already have the right to market.
You already have the right to visas.
You already had the military cooperation.
Do you really want to sacrifice the right to an independent fiscal policy? Or foreign policy?
This is exactly why UK chose Brexit. Why outsource your sovereignty to bureaucrats in Brussels? What benefit will Turkey receive from EU it doesn't already receive?
I read that they called themselves Romans, not Byzantines.
I read that they called themselves Romans, not Byzantines.
The point is, it can stop receiving the benefits it receives, at any time.
Turkey will be a completely sovereign country
Possibly, but at least Turkey will be a completely sovereign country, in control of its destiny. If you want a good example why EU can be such a problem just look at Greece, who has neither a central bank or its own currency; and had to rely on EU to bail them out.
