Eleven Women Die in India After Botched Sterilizations

Answer is, men are selfish, and they don't really love or care about their wives. There is no other explanation. The GoI and the authorities dealing with this program are also responsible as to why they allow TL procedure that is costlier and riskier.
somewhat correct...but more precisely its the local anesthesia,,,,nobody wants an injection at that place.everyone prefers general anesthesia,,,,but obviously thats not possible in a govt. setup(why,,u shudnt ask)...

It is just a needle prick. Please don't tell me that an overwhelming majority of Indian men is scared of a needle prick. Its just an excuse. Should I tell you the real real reason? Men are afraid that following vasectomy, they wont attain complete erection and/or experience a reduction in sexual pleasure. So in essence, they prefer their sexual satisfaction over the safety and wellbeing of their wives. This is the job of the counselor/program coordinator to address their fear and educate them about the risks involved in TL.

hey,,,u n me know that its just a needle prick,,,,but a dehati might find it difficult to accept all that n the associated taboo..yes counselors shud do a better job,,,but thn what can u expect from sarkari mulazim...they dont care
neway,,,,lap ligations r done by dept. of OBG,,,while vasectomies r under dept. of urology/gen. surgery,a dept. which is always overworked in govt. setups,,,,so they tend to avoid vasectomies(or any other vella procedure like circumcision without any indication),,,if patient opts for GA,,thn it will be a longer procedure,,killing OT time.
moreover ligation is not a life threatening procedure,,,i myself have assisted,,,its a ~15 min procedure, done under short GA with spontaneous respiration while in private setup its done under spinal block

Nothing is forced on anyone here, these procedure is recommended to only those women who have more than 3 children. What you have written is just your imagination.

It was the tainted medicine to blame in this case and not the doctor.

Jharkhand .One of the backward state in India .So you can expect this much irresponsibility.
However we should control our population .

I am one and that is why I am saying it is unnecessary. Name just one more country where these type of procedures are performed en masse.

and about dementia ts even weaker in short its what happened
In 2006, a group of Northwestern University researchers published a study that seemed to link vasectomy and dementia. The study was prompted by a patient at an Alzheimer’s disease clinic who told doctors that his aphasia—problems with speech—had begun shortly after a vasectomy. A survey of 47 clinic patients with early aphasia found that 19 had had a vasectomy.
