What's new

Egypt's population officially reaches 93 millions: CAPMAS

You want to abandon socialism a la Chavismo and join the corrupt Western/capitalist system?:taz:

Yes, I want to join the corrupt capitalists. At least they have rights and strong economies.

You should learn a thing or two about freedom of expression while you are at it. If you expect people to cheerlead you, don't post it in internet where people can have their own opinions.

Did I ever command you to leave? No? Then stop complaining. This is exactly why I dislike Indians in my threads, they ruin everything with their complaining.

A nation of Anus? @Sharif al-Hijaz edit it quickly.:D

Changed to Pakistaninus. Anyway just noticed it now however you two were very quick to notice it. That tells me a lot, lol. Just kidding. A bit of trolling and some laughing is good. However I will insist on the name Arabus.

Well I have been confused for being a Yemeni on multiple occasions, even a Lebanese but that was only once lol. Maybe if I learn perfect Arabic I can complete my Arab disguise.

As I said either ancestry, assimilation or intermarriage and you are good to go. 1000's upon 1000's of Arab-Pakistani couples already. 1 more will hurt nobody.

What matters is this:

I am not an Indian as you can see from my flags..... Get a life!

You may be a separate country but you are still Indian.

Anyway stop de-railing the thread.

@Zaki Need a cleanup

In Palestine? Lol

Though I can confirm the Arab feminists here in the UK though. Arab women seem very assertive, more than the men lol, especially the ones from the Maghreb and Sham.

In Londonistan those I have encountered (diaspora and visitors/students alike are a mixed bag). However what is certain is that you will always be able to encounter GCC women in various shops and restaurants. That is a given. And of course Edgware Road. Arabistan de facto.

@Sharif al-Hijaz Man I wish we had that thread like whatever but for Arabs still around.

If we keep going off-topic then we are getting banned and the thread will be locked:lol:

Those were the times. Those were the times.

Those singing are actually assimilated Afro-Arabs. Believe me!

Traitor that's Haram. :astagh: lol

Jokes aside, why is it that the Egyptian government doesn't start liberalizing Egypt economy and making state companies more productive/accountable? Could start slowly. Don't have to rush, maybe start by selling some shares of some state owned companies and raise private ownership in these companies to reinvigorate them. Etc

As far as I know Sisi has already established his power base and he has a strong mandate. So I believe he can push through these reforms if he really wants, don't you think so?

Turks, Persians and to some extent even Kurds don't have many children today. The Arab world is just disappointing again, though, from a Turkish perspective this baby boom is good.

hahahaha.... let's just say Baltics and Russia are one country, Egypt and Sudan are one country, Switzerland and Germany are one country. You are quite entertaining. Reminds me of the yanks who finds Iran in Australia.

Egypt and Sudan are one country

The entirety of MENA is one people/one country. You know what Pan-Arabism is?

Quite accurate actually

Switzerland and Germany
That could work but more like Austria and Germany or Belgium and Germany.

I think it has more to do with the Military wanting strong control of our economy. They still like control 20-30% of the civilian economy despite the fact that they are the military.

Which will become a problem for those people and their economies at one point in time. Already signs of that. Most Arab states have a healthy population growth rate which makes the populations of Arab countries dynamic and young which you cannot buy for money.

Why is that a good thing? It's not like Arab countries and developments on all fronts are stagnating (rather the contrary) that no local industries (which already exist) will emerge or that Turkish products are the only alternative. The existing Turkish-Arab trade (negligible in the wider picture at least for the Arab world) will grow but it's not like Turkey will benefit from the trade more than Arab countries themselves or other countries. In fact main industrial nations such as US, China, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, South Korea etc. are those that will benefit the most if anything. But first and foremost the Arab countries themselves will benefit from it. Large populations = larger economies. That's more or less inevitable. Same story with Pakistan. If Pakistan had a 4 times smaller population they could only dream about reaching top 20 in terms of largest economies. Due to their population this is a very realistic and achievable goal in a few decades almost regardless of the economic policies. The sheer numbers alone will ensure this. Same story with Egypt.

As mentioned earlier,as long as it is a controlled population growth (which is the case nowadays) and as long as Egypt keeps progressing it should not become a too big challenge. It's not like they or Arabs lack space. Technological progress (inevitable) will also tackle issues such as water, food, desertification while economic growth will take care of housing, healthcare, education etc. KSA's population growth has been one of the largest/most dynamic percentage wise in the past 50 years and many doomsday theories were published 40-50 years ago and none of this occurred. Rather had KSA's population remained 4-5 million big as 60-70 years ago, we would have been nobodies today and we could only dream about having the world's 13th largest economy (top 15 in general) as per most surveys by 2050.

And Arabs are different indeed on this front. For us having large families is a gift not a burden. My family is upperclass and yet I have 7 siblings (numerous nephews and TONS of cousins) and I would not trade that for anything in the world. I can't imagine having no siblings (or 1-2) or very few cousins. A big family is a gift not a burden.

Yeah, problem is that they keep adding to the project.

"Cairo — President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has set a two-year deadline to complete the first phase of Egypt's new administrative capital project, starting January 2016.

Sisi met Sunday with Former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb, Minister of Housing Mostafa Madbouli, Projects Adviser to Minister of Defense Amir Ahmed Al-Sayed, head of military engineering authority General Emad al-Alfy and chief-of-staff of the military engineering authority Major General Kamel Al-Wazeer.

Egypt contracted a Chinese company to start implementing the first phase, said Madbouli.

Egypt signed the deal with China State Construction Engineering Corporation, also known as China Construction, in September. The company is tasked with "studying the building and financing" of the administrative part of the new capital.

The project was announced last March during the Egyptian Economic Development Conference (EEDC) held in Sharm al-Sheikh and is estimated to cost $45 billion.

The new capital will be constructed over 490 kilometres squared of land and is slated to include 1.1 million housing units to serve 5 million citizens, Madbouli said.

The capital will also include 10,000 roads and a new airport and will take between five to seven years to complete, he added.

Egypt had so far only highlighted the involvement of the UAE's Capital City Partners (CCP), where an initial agreement was signed for the mega-project at the EEDC, said Reuters."

I read about it I think last year in some urban planning magazine, was wondering what happened to it.

Although I love Cairo, especially the old city, there is something oddly satisfying about seeing a whole new modern city rise out of the desert. Will definitely pay a visit to see the progress. Best of luck!

That just shows your ignorance, nothing else. Baltic countries have completely different languages and cultures which is why they were some of the first to declare independence from USSR. Estonia is more similar to Finland than Russia. Their languages are almost the same. Take that for a start. Not everywhere on Earth functions like MENA region. Sri Lanka too has a different language and a culture and which is why it was administered as a separate entity even during British empire. Boy, you need to go back to school.

The military controls almost 30% of the Egyptian economy?:o:
WOW....I knew Egyptian military was indeed involved in running many sectors of the country's civilian economy, but I never thought the figure was this high. I can only imagine the level of corruption involved in these companies/businesses.:disagree:
China had a similar problem with the PLA being involved in running civilian sectors of the country's economy. However they government noticed the huge level of corruption this encouraged to the point where it was affecting the country fighting capability/readiness. Today things have improved, as the government has limited the PLAs involvement in running businesses.
Hopefully Egypt will follow the same route.

Estonia is racially Slavic/Russian

Sri Lanka is racially Indian

I am not talking about cultures.

Egypt has a different culture then Libya but we still consider ourselves as Arabs.

Estonia is not slavic. Even nazis used to treat them separately. Given by that logic, you should group all the all of East Asia together can call whoever comes from Korea and Japan as Chinese. I don't care what you call yourselves. As I said rest of the world doesn't function as MENA region. How hard is it to understand that?
