Egypt court dismisses charges against Mubarak

Well, brother the unfortunate situation for us in the Arab and Muslim world (some would say the entire non-Western world) is that we have largely poor rulers that have been a hindrance for our growth as peoples and country's. What we see in Egypt is unfortunate as the potential is very big like with so many other Arab countries. You might look at the GCC and think that everything is perfect here but we have many of the same problems that are holding us down.

I also do not care about any particular rulers that I have not even elected. I care for KSA as a country, Iraq (because I also have ancestral ties to that country) and in fact all Arab countries as there is no reason for me as a Arab to hate any and I can only wish success as the people deserve this and also this will make our part of the world stronger.

Well, I do not speak for what my government is doing I can only say to you as a civilian person and person of Hijazi background and Makkawi Hashemite (look at the relation to Egypt and intermarriages with Egyptians) who speaks a dialect almost identical to the Egyptian, whose ancestral lands are just next to Egypt across the Red Sea that the strongest partner that KSA can have in the region (potentially) and the one that we can both mutually benefit the most from is Egypt without a doubt.

I know that there is this non-MB and MB conflict (I hope that it ends so people stop fighting over silly things) but I can only speak for myself. I look at it this way. Even when MB was ruled by Morsi nothing changed for me in regards to how I and other Arabs perceive Egyptians. Egyptians that live and work in KSA call it a second home (especially in Hijaz) and the Saudi Arabians that visit Egypt feel at home as well and do the same. Just ask other Saudi Arabian users here or see Arab forums. You know already.:)

What more can I say other than I sincerely hope for the betterment of Egypt and our entire region. I think that my "status update" says it very well.

Regards to Ceylal. Nobody here has a problem with him let alone Berbers (we are related to them and they are our distant cousins - he admitted so himself) if he just stopped to troll Arabs (he can criticize our rulers all he want to in my eyes) and stop insulting KSA, Iraq, Egypt etc. all the time.
speaking about myself i support el sisi and it is the first time in my life to support the leader of my country this man have alot of plans that if put into action can solve our problems
about the region i think after the US left the biggest threat is terror the most dangerous enemy is someone who you cant see until he aim at you imagine regular civilians walking in the streets like any other suddenly they have a bomb or a gun and they think that killing army members is jihad and it is up to them to say who is muslim and who is not my opinion is this should be a priority to all countries in the middle east

In my opinion a leader/government/regime should first of all be able to secure safety in a country and basics necessities. Then progress should follow on most fields and there should be a vision or more. I know less about what Al-Sisi is planning than the average Egyptian that follows Egyptian politics closely every single day but if you can already see improvements under his rule already then this is a good thing.

I also believe that we as a region lack the ability to disagree in a healthy manner. So what if somebody else has a different opinion, worldview, sect, religion, ideology etc? As long as it is not harmful for the security of the state and society they should be permitted. That's what I like about Western Europe. The freedom of speech should become much better and the active participation of people too. What does it matter that you can vote every few years when you otherwise are without influence as a citizen? Nothing really.

Terrorism is another huge problem. I do not know who is involved anymore but I just know that the powerful players who are not interested in our region (other than its wealth, strategic location, religious sites, rich history etc.) see it as a good thing that it is in chaos. One less competitor on the international scene.

Fighting every extreme ideology (whatever it might be and whatever it hides under) is the duty of every citizen and society. Yet we should also look at the causes to why people join such groups. Why do we not see this elsewhere etc.? Questions should be asked. The clergy should be more active. A few radicals cannot be allowed to hijack entire countries and make people fear to speak the truth or speak out.

I personally agree with a lot of GCC policies but I am very much against the sad state of the freedom of speech and active participation of the populaces and the clergy (at least in KSA) is also to blame for that. This is just my opinion. Some prefer stability over certain political rights and I can also understand their argument in the current times. Yet I believe that changes are inevitable on this front and I hope that they will arrive in a peaceful manner as the progresses has so far on other fronts.

We need more such brave souls.

If you do not know TedX then this is a very interesting platform with many talented Arab youngsters and other people who are saying a lot of wise things. It's worth giving it a look.

about GCC some are saying there is a slow reform on freedom of speech and the authority of religious police i think the best reform is one that comes from the leadership
just like Egyptian reforms after 67 defeat in the army command
i wish the best to our countries and the middle east

Practically there is already freedom of speech outside of "just" openly going against the rulers or openly making continuous blasphemous religious statements. Basically like in almost any other ME state. Of course this should also be allowed. Those things will change and when that happens the GCC will become even a more successful region than it already is.

The new generation is talented and well educated (among the best in the region) and more people from that region of the ME are graduating from Western universities than anywhere else percentage wise and also in terms of numbers.

The recent (2014) rankings on the HDI-index also show that things are moving in the right direction.

The problem are the current events in the region. Popular demands can quickly get hijacked by you know which element of the society like we saw in Egypt and so many other places.

good point the danger of protests these times is a lot more dangerous than any demand at least i think so

I can't believe a guy from Bangladesh is participating on this thread... lol, go get some money for your dinner man ! what the hell are you doing here?

What the hell are you doing on this Pakistani forum? Don't you have your sisilian or the royal Arabian forum run by your zionazi masters? You guys have been getting it from one tiny state like assrahell for the last half a century because to you guys licking uncle sam's boots in order to ensure your despotic rule is more important. So, the question is what do you really care other than your marble palaces, expensive western cars and herems with sexy whores? I've just noticed that you're not displaying an Arab flag. So, what are you a CIA missionary or a Mossad funded intellectual?
