Earthquake - October 10, 2010

Hearing reports of a strong quake in the region. Hope everybody's safe.

Epicenter is very near the ground (40km is fairly shallow) and it is in a populated area (just around Haripur). Hope people are safe all over the region.

Yeah it was a strong one, for a moment, I thought that's it at any time the roof will be on us, thank God it was just for few seconds. Now it is raining here in Islamabad with thunder storm.

it seems that it was a mild eart quake on recter scale, magnitude of 5.4.
but was quite horrifying, continous jerks and prolonged shaking!!!

Just felt tremors of an earthquake which was terrifying!

The jolts were not simply movement of the earth but the jerks! with heart pouring out! I am in Islamabad, Pakistan and felt these tremors just a minute ago! (now don't say jo ho rha hai america kra rha hai!)

The earthqauake happened just now on 2:45 am PST 11th october 2010. We had an earthquake last month too which was felt in almost half of the country!

Don't know about official news as yet, but it seems to have intensity of atleast 7 scale!

I hope there are no deaths or big damages to property to people here!

There have been various clamities and natural disasters in the country every month! Flood in august, earthquake in september and now another quake in october!

May Allah protect us and forgive us for our sins! Ameen!

The time to worry is when it exceeds 6.5 + and more likely 7+

the tremors were quite horrifying, perhaps it was the type of quake that make it look as a very strong one. the magnitude on recter scal shown no real signs of danger.
thanks God, we cannot afford any more disaster after PPP government and the floods..

well magnitude has a part to play but the depth in which the quake occurs is usually the decisive one

Pakistan seems to become next Japan..... Every now and then we see earth quake in Pakistan like it use to be Japan!!!!!

it was a pretty strong quake, everyone was thrown out of his/her bed

AS per PST, the earthquake occured at around 3.13am!!

It was for a very short instant but quite strong which is why the 5.4 rating!!

It felt more like a P-Type (vibration) then an S-Type (wave) that we faced in Oct 8, 2005.

In any case, it was quite a shocker!!!!!

it was very strong in its intensity .. but it was also very short in its duration.. it wans'nt as long as the oct 8 2005 earthquake.. and it seems that no damage has been done. Shokar ha Allah Ka...
btw did u people heard any noise just before the earthquake .. i heard some sound and it was very strange and just before the earthquake crows and mainas [ don't know what it is called in English] started to shriek violently...

yar it wasnt at 3:13 it was at 2:45 ... i think... or maybe my watch was not set

It was fearful.... I couldn't sleep after that. thank God no casualties were reported. can anybody post the precaution/safety measures to be followed during earthquake.

When did this happen....I didn't feel anything in Peshawar...Just read this thread....
