America is Iran's biggest enemy but most of his policies end up helping Iran. For eg Americans removed Taliban from AF and Saddam from Iraq.
America is now backing Assad in Syria. It did not back Mubarak in Egypt.
And its middle east policies are ever raising Iran's profile there.

- america backing syria? have you blazed or something!

- america was supporting mubarak, but because they didn't wanted to be shown as someone who support a dictator they kept with the other side in Egypt

While allowing Iran to speak out against them and appear a hero to the Muslim world, US has consistently found ways of creating situations favourable to Iran in the Middle East. Whether this is due to collaboration or just plain bungling by US military is a matter of opinion.

What pains me is that US consistently keeps interfering in India's friendship with Iran and Iran has made matters complicated by passing comments about Kashmir. All pro Iran political parties in India (mainly the left ) are also left confused now.

No, the US has got to do absolutely nothing for Iran to lose popularity. Its aggressinve stance combined with its nuclear program has already cost it a lot of friends and all the US has to do is show some sympathy to those people who are fed up with Iran.

America has already figured out that attacking Iran isn't as easy, so it's just biding its time for now.
