Does democracy hinder economic growth?

One point made by the Chinese expert again.
That the income inequality in China is more than India,so it's there govt. which is getting richer and so is are,but on a slightly slower rate.
A point for those who say rich Indians are getting richer and poor getting poorer, the same thing is in China and on a faster rate!

Main problem with you Indians is your weak memory and illiteracy. You forget your politicians' corruption too easily and most are ignorant about requirements of development like a big no to frugal strikes.....no opposition to land acquisition........

china deals with these things with an iron fist. people observe strikes there under government directives. Like they did against Japanese companies

Aren't you indian?

Democracy dosent hinder growth...corruption does.

weak democratic institutions coupled with corruption hinders economic growth.
case in point Pakistan - during democratic rule, growth was 3-5%, under military govt, growth was consistant at 6-8% - so what gives...

Well case point India- Weak democracy with corrupt politicians growth was constant at 6.5 - 9% but under rule of Indira Gandhi it was 4%. So what gives....
