Depression is the main cause of farm suicides

Problems are more mental in nature. Earlier that did not use to happen. More and more people are omitting suicide now days. My brother is a psychiatrist and run a suicide prevention help line. He is in surat city so farmer case comes very less but he told that majority of laddies suicides are because of problem with Husband and with her husbands family while gents commit suicide because of debt.

As I said before it is no tougher being a land owning farmer than many other professions. Why is it tougher to be a farmer than a fisherman who risks life and limb everyday.

Fishermen have it tough too.

Housewives may be a little surprised to hear that they are nonproductive. Thiiatbtheir contribution is hard to measure does not make it any the less valuable.

Irrelevant. We are discussing GDP and direct contributors to GDP. Not indirect enablers.

You are so narrowly focused on the plight of farmers that you are not looking at the plight of the remaining millions of people who are much worse off than farmers. Why are we subsidizing farmers at the expense of other equally deserving people also contributing to the GDP.

I am focused on the MAJORITY of Indians, and they are farmers. Its a number game. Minority cannot and should not prosper at the expense of the Majority. That is the very definition of exploitation.

Most farmers do not know the true value of their land

The Idiot who accidentally killed himself at AAP rally owned 11 Acres of Farm Land, Valued at Rs 2.75 Crores( 620000 USD) at the lower end.
Had he sold his land and put that money in the bank account, then he would have been getting Interest income of Rs 1 Lakh a month, which is more than enough.
