Defence Ministry issues fresh tender for 20 Hawk aircraft

Yak-130 is better in almost all flight characteristics with additional more combat possibilities,,its an irrefutable fact,,,even discussing that is a waste of time
Please do explain how it is superior to the Hawk Mk.132 and leave out combat capabilities- that is entirely irrelevant.

Well Hawk is perfect for the role it is intended for. Yak130 is almost double the price of Hawks if I am not wrong.( 2000 crore for 20 hawks and BD bought 24 Yak130s for almost 800 million).

BD didn't pay $800m for 24 yak130s, it included a lot more other stuff. Helios, weapons, support, training etc.

it cost us 800 milllion BD version will be way advanced that basic one, BD version will also do Su24 role also and it also includes training.
Exactly and which is why it just doesn't suit our doctrine as we want a simple advance trainer only for training purpose with less operational cost.
No doubt yaks are better and can perform some other tasks along with training(which is why BD gone for it) but in IAF case this is irreverent.

Still hawk is pretty good and differences are not much.
For proper LIFT we will use lca mk1 as its supersonic:rolleyes:
Dude I am not sure if LIFT is needed in our doctrine or not. We use 2 trainers of same type in every sqd. Its like 16+2+3(single seated+trainer version+reserve) except MKIs where trainers are not needed at all as they already are twin seated.

It can carry 3000 kg of Ordinance which is the same as PAF Thunder. Best part is HAL has FULL ToT including the Adour Mk871 engine.

First I want to dismiss the veil of full TOT,not only in hawk but any purchase. The manufacturer with all the hard work and investment he has made over decades will not genuinely transfer technology, that never happens nor is it going to in the future.
If anyone says full TOT on complex item take it with a bucket full of salt.

The original file related to the tender had gone missing and the process
had to be restarted by the Government, they said.

The defence ministry has taken a serious view of the lapses on part of
the officials handling the file and an inquiry has been ordered,
officials said.

Disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against officials who are
found responsible for the lapses, they said.

Man this is embarrassing if happened due to callousness, dont they have backup of their systems when they can archived files.

I like your optimism... :)
Believe me it is rooted in awareness of similar instances in other governments and also the fact this follow-on order for Hawks is a done deal- no two ways about it. With the Hawk Mk.132 being ordered in vast numbers (in excess of 120) and being the standard AJT of the IAF and IN there is no more competition in this area, the IAF is not opening up the Surya Kiran order to anyone else but BAE. No one benefits from these papers going wondering- it just makes a lot of people look incredibly foolish and incompetent.

U maybe right dude
