I've read much about Gandhi Sahib; his politics didn't impress me then and I don't think Ms.Roy is going to change my mind considerably either !

There were many things wrong with Gandhi and many things right about Ambedkar, principally the fact that Ambedkar was a true moderniser while Gandhi was whimsical and inconsistent. However, Arundhati Roy's blatant lies do nothing to advance that argument.

I am also proud of her*. She shows how much tolerant we can be even when someone tests our national integrity, not to mention offending religious sentiments - for decades. That she did not have to leave the country and the only negative vibes she gets from most Indians is ridicule is indeed a misaal of our maturity as a State.
