There is a poll on Dawn news, should Karachi be a weapon free zone?
I say yes, but it impossible to be one.

Please say what do you suggest.

keep rules like india only 3 guns allowed 112 gauge 1 rifle and a pistol (only if there is a life threat to the person) and yeah no automatic ones only semi automatic

As long as all the other cities in Pakistan are made weapon free . Especially the areas where weapon production is really high because migrants from those areas bring their weapon culture to Karachi.

Good idea but then how will electronic and print media (like Dawn news) make business when they will have not story to publish? Good for public bad for media. so wont happen and is just a dream. Btw MQM and PPP thugs will also run out of business so its a BIG NO NO!

gun culture in nwfp and fata should reduce too, because these are the roots of the entire gun culture of karachi, all political parties should be scrutinised by law if they have weapons, they must be black listed, all the immigrants from outside to karachi city must be scanned for arms and if caught, they must be jailed for years.

also please raid the al asif square area and clean this area of afghani weapons depot

Yes theres too many target killings and too many criminals and gangs with weapons in Karachi, the financial hub of Pakistan.

Only police and other security officials should carry weapons especially in Karachi.

And there needs to be security cameras all over Karachi as well as in other major cities of Pakistan. There needs to be added security for citizens especially in the major cities of Pakistan.

I would not say yes, and dont get me wrong I would not sayy no either. The problem is not the guns, the problem is the people (bad people) with the guns. The licencing should be strictly controlled not with regard to number of licences issued but with regard to the individuals. No license for illlitrate, no license for unmarried, no license for people blow 35 (supposedly at this age people are more mature and somewhat rational), no license for unemplyed, no license for people with criminal or mental health back ground. a psycho test and safe gun handelling and storage knowledge test prior to issuance. No license for automatic weapons to any one, magazine capicty limiyed to max 10 rounds, strict capital punishment with time behind bars for all offenders etc. etc.

i don't hear about target killings in Lahore,Islamabad,Sargodha (recently in quetta)!!! its ONLY A KARACHI problem!!!! karachi should be made weapons free!!! the only thing spoiling the peace of karachi & instilling terror in the hearts of people of karachi!

In the title the word ' should' ought to be replaced by ' Can'.

Weapons like drugs have proliferated so deeply that is is virtually impossible to implement a ban on weapons.

Besides there are too many wheels within wheels for a suggestion like this to bear fruit.

Mustafa Kamal put cameras all over the city to monitor crime but after his term ended the new PPP Administrator took all of them down.

& we all know who takes BATHAA and who made PPP remove Zulfiqar Mirza! so please save me the crocodile tears! and tell me before the 80s and rise of MQM why was karachi so peaceful??

Glad to see 100% for Yes. But this is practically impossible  When terrorists break us and rule, when terrorists control the Gov, then how is it possible, eh? :angry:cry:
