You forget that Al-Qaeda didn't gain any true power until after US declared the War on Terror. Only after that were people angered enough to pick up arms.Al-Qaeda is like a plague, wherever it has layed foot, destruction and devastation have followed suit.
Somalia: Mogadishu used to be called the "White Pearl" of the Indian ocean and had the largest armed forces amongst all African nations.
Yemen: Is showing signs of differences between it's population with attacks on military becoming more frequent.
Afghanistan: Kabul used to be called the "Paris of Asia", now the whole country is a ruin.
Pakistan: Used to be called the "Land of Hospitality", now the most terrorized country in the world, more casualties as a result of terrorism than as compared to all countries combined after the post 9-11 world.
Similarly, Sudan has also been devastated as a result of Al-Qaeda's footprint.
Plus, what does Al-Qaeda have to do with with those places? Afghanistan had Taliban, not Al-Qaeda. Somalia had it's government collapsed int he 90's. Pakistan suffered these attacks only after 9/11, when US invaded. And Sudan has other problems with the government not talking the people and such.
