Council of Europe calls for Muslims in UK to legally register marriage before Islamic marriage

But how do you enforce these laws that is the question

All marriages are registered in Pakistan too i dont thinthink it is a problem but how would they enforce them?
They could just refuse to be registered under the marriage laws and be considered cohabitant partners by law

Yep i dont know any country where marriages are not registered by law.

There was a time when certain Muslims in UK were calling for seperate sharia courts so they could get away with child brides and polygamy.

Not sure why they couldn't take the first flight out of the country and go somewhere where they can be a pervert child rapist instead of trying to enforce it on a country which gave them a slice of their pie.

But this story is a non issue, its just signing a form during nikkah which can be done anywhere, very flexible. Its happening for a long time. No idea where this story came from.

My view on marriage registrstion is completely different
State should revamp laws for them and treat them the same way they treat co-ownership of houses and breakdown of businesses

1. This council has no power, it is only a talkshop.
2. Britain is leaving the EU because of talkshops like this.
3. They cannot implement any such law. It is against basic human rights. I can live with a woman and consider myself married by the power of He-Man, that doesn't make my marriage legal. "Nikkah only" is not seen as a registered marriage in the UK, therefore it is a non-issue.
4. Any proper mufti who carries out our nikkah in the UK is also able to legally register you as married.
5. Anyone with any common sense gets their wedding registered anyway.
6. Even if registered, if both parties agree to divorce according to shariah rulings, they are free to do so, no court anywhere in the world can intervene in any domestic issue unless they are asked to by one of the two people involved.

Their country their rule. Whatever makes lives in uk easier for the people and safer.

The UK is not a banana republic, those of who live here are equal citizens and we have an equal right to express our views and shape/challenge what laws are made. Unlike Pakistan, the legal system is not a holy cow, law of the lands are changed to benefit the people.

Basically, those same certain muslims you mentioned - still don't bother to get the forms signed, they don't use molvis who bother with the forms, they just do nikkah, then go tie their wives to the kitchen sink.

My perspective is, if both parties are willing participants - leave them be.
