ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif in a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday at PM House discussed Indian involvement in funding terrorism in Pakistan.

The PM and COAS spoke about recent disclosures made in a BBC documentary which alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) received Indian funding to carry out subversive activities.

The meeting also discussed matters of internal security and the war against terrorism.

Gen Raheel Sharif apprised PM Nawaz about the progress made in Operation Zarb-i-Azb across Pakistan.

The security situation at Pakistan's eastern and western borders was also examined.

The accusations against Indian funding of MQM come at a time when the political party is facing an investigation regarding charges of money laundering. A team of investigators from Scotland Yard arrived in Islamabad yesterday to question a suspect arrested in connection with the case earlier in April.

While Altaf on Monday rejected claims of any involvement with Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), MQM leader Tariq Mir confessed to the London police in an earlier interview that Altaf knew about Indian funding of MQM's activities.

The Pakistani and Indian leadership have also recently exchanged inflammatory statements back-and-forth which may culminate in PM Nawaz raising the issue of Indian interference in Pakistan's affairs at the annual United Nations General Assembly this year.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's army chief General Raheel Sharif today discussed with prime minister Nawaz Sharif India's alleged involvement in funding terrorism in the country, a media report said.

According to Dawn Online, the two also discussed matters of internal security and the war against terrorism.

The Dawn report claimed that alleged Indian funding for terrorism in Pakistan came up in the discussion.

The BBC in a recent report had also alleged that India had been giving funds to Karachi-based Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party to carry out subversive activities.

Pakistan has launched a formal probe into the BBC report and the top leadership is mulling whether to raise the matter in the UN over alleged Indian interference in internal matters of the country.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain yesterday rejected the contents of the BBC report and said that he was ready to declare under oath that he and his party had no link with India's external spy agency RAW.

MQM leader Tariq Mir had reportedly confessed to the London police in an earlier interview that Hussain knew about alleged Indian funding of MQM's activities.

General Sharif also apprised the premier about progress in Operation Zarb-e-Azb against militants across Pakistan and the security situation at the eastern and western borders.

To blame India in a discussion, Pakistan has to shut down ISI first. Because ISI runs on funds too and their activities are not in favor of India.

ISI will expand into NE India and give a taste of your own medicine.

This explains why Pakistani leadership was burning when we eliminated your assets in Myanmar and now trying to disguise yourself as goat by discussing Indian funding. :enjoy:

My humble question is WHY we take action so quickly when the information is pointed out by foreign media (BBC)? WHY can't we take into consideration the LOCAL intelligence and evidences already in-hand and take action on those? It just gives an impression that ONLY NOW things will be taken seriously...

What to discuss? Evidences are all over the place. Take them to Security Council and Demand to call Maximum India a terrorist state or least dent their Permanent Membership in UN.

Pakistan can only discuss whether to share evidence or not even if they have. Because when you share evidence you also need to share the source and this will blow off your intelligence network working against India.

Electronic evidence is something which can be shared, or interception by your MI.

Don't you think if an enemy state had such hard evidence as claimed, they would not let such a juicy chance get away to get back at an enemy state? After India has started to ignore Pak, it has started acting like a teenager craving for attention. Simply banging on the dinner table to get attention is short lived! Open your mouth or plain shut up! Back in 2009-10 PAK army had claimed they had intersected truck loads of evidence, Alas, that was not evidence enough! Why is Pak hard pressed to prove its a weak state?
