As the world mourns the 39 people found dead in a trailer in the UK, U.S. leading media company CNN is maliciously using the tragedy as a political tool to harass China's human rights conditions.

Without verification, the media outlet asserted the 39 victims were Chinese nationals. Moreover, a CNN reporter attempted to embarrass Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying by asking her to explain why Chinese people risked their lives to leave the country, especially as the PRC is celebrating its 70th founding anniversary.

To CNN's disappointment, new evidence suggests that the 39 people were likely from Vietnam, not China. They were believed to be travelling on false Chinese passport and may be part of a group of 100 migrants who set out from a remote Vietnamese town for "a new life" in the UK, according to Reuters reports.

"A few families confirmed the deaths of their relatives who are victims of this tragic journey," Father Nam, a priest in Vietnam's Yen Thanh, was quoted by Reuters as saying. In the meantime, Hanoi has ordered an investigation into alleged human trafficking activities.

While the world is saddened by the loss of 39 lives and is anxiously waiting for the final results of the investigation, CNN may feel more regretful for losing an opportunity to humiliate China and its human rights conditions.

As the fourth estate in the West, the media is supposed to be neutral and objective in its news reporting. However, it is not the first time that CNN has been criticized for reporting fake news. Earlier, even U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to sue CNN, or in his words – "the enemy of the people" – for what he sees as unfair coverage.

Touting itself as a bastion of public interest, CNN-like media seem to attach more importance to political correctness than its due responsibilities to the public. If CNN really cared about human rights, it would never utilize the tragic loss of 39 lives as a political weapon to humiliate China. By playing the "human rights" card to attack China for selfish political gains, CNN is showing disrespect to the victims and their relatives.

For CNN-led Western media, "human rights" is never their ultimate pursuit, but merely a means to demonstrate their political correctness. Instead of objectivity, neutrality and accuracy, CNN's golden rule in news coverage is political correctness. On the domestic level, it's embedded in fierce criticisms against Trump-represented anti-establishment political forces. On the international level, it can be equated with blatant demonizing of other countries with different political systems.

To this end, these news organizations have been adept at operating under double standards. A cursory look at their respective coverage on domestic and international hot spot issues tells you everything. While publicizing Hong Kong rioters' "fight for freedom," CNN-represented media outlets have been silent on the rampant gun violence in the United States. No country is perfect. But in CNN's world, the West is equivalent to all good things, while China, Russia and other countries that it deems as rivals represent all evil things.

It's a shame that decades after the Cold War era, the West is still obstinate in their simplistic ideology-driven biases against states with different political systems. As today's international configuration is gradually replacing "unipolar" with "multipolar," CNN-represented media is still sticking to a "unipolar" mentality – blindly transplanting Western ideas and systems to others and manipulating every possible means to harass and attack systems different from the West.

In the era of global integration, the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration requires cooperation among international players. As the tragedy is still under investigation, it's no time to play politics on the catastrophic deaths. If it cannot be professional in its news coverage, CNN-led Western media should at least stop politicizing the tragedy, put aside all dirty political games and respect the victims and their relatives.

Freedom of speech equal to spitting venom like snake which expose the ugly side of human especially the west.

Giving total freedom of speech is a big mistake in the first place.

The only reason they said the 39 victims were Chinese was because the U.K. authorities said so. They certainly weren’t in the truck with a camera crew.

Even ChinaDaily jumped the gun and criticized the U.K. for Chinese deaths. OOOOOPS!!!

Four Chinese Nationals Found In Car Trunk At Border Crossing In Southern California

Border Patrol agents arrested three Chinese nationals hidden in the trunk of a car at a checkpoint south of Tucson, officials said.

I hate to hit you with reality...but it’s not exactly a wild stretch of the imagination to think the people in the container were Chinese.

Maybe instead of hiding from the question you should acknowledge the issue...and do something to PREVENT it.

2013 was long time ago, and this thread is about CNN's malicious lies against China. Yes, China just got this developed less than a decade and many people still can't get over poor nation mentality and have not fully grasped the west was not that developed and rich as they learned a decade ago, like some Tibetans risked their lives to climb over the Himalaya mountains to reach India for Dalai Lama, they don't really know what they are heading, one more decade, the whole nation will get over this poor nation mentality and know ourselves better, China develops super fast and many people's mentality, especially those from poor regions, couldn't keep up accordingly for now.

Disgusting Americans. I am so so happy that almost 5 years of Trump has humiliated these filthy arrogant hypocrites to the bone. Trump has put them in their rightful place. All they can do is scream impeachment and Trump gives them some more medicine.

LOL CNN can only dream of changing opinion on China.

The Chinese don't even piss on the USA. China is a superpower in its own right.
It's so despicable to use those lost souls to score a China bashing point, that's what CNN was trying so hard to do, we never know how low US media can get.

Whilst the Americans were killing Muslims and invading their lands for oil China was busy trading and building bridges.

The Americans are in full sour grape mode. They are fuming like helpless cowards. Begging the world to isolate China LOL The world only shows a middle finger.

Wow you are truly clueless as to the severity of the situation if you are focusing on dates. The stuff your government hides from you is just astounding. I only picked those because they had pics...you want a more recent one that was a real horror show:

Man charged after three Chinese illegal immigrants found dead in car trunk
By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Passersby saw blood dripping out of the BMW, and said there was a foul smell emanating from the car, left on a city street in San Diego.

Police who investigated found three dead illegal immigrants — two of them a mother and her 15-year-old son — stuffed in the trunk.

On Tuesday authorities announced they’d made an arrest, nabbing Neil Edwin Valeraat a bus station in San Diego over the weekend, three weeks after they say he snuck the three Chinese migrants across the border in the trunk of his BMW.

It’s not clear how the migrants ended up dead, and authorities have not charged Mr. Valera with involvement beyond the Aug. 9 smuggling event — though one of the two charges is “encouraging aliens to enter resulting in death.”

“These tragic cases are grim reminders that attempting to cross into the United States illegally in the trunk of a car – and putting your faith, hope and future in the hands of smugglers – is extremely dangerous,” said Robert Brewer, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of California.

There is one province, Fujian, people there have a long tradition of moving overseas illegally, they are an unique bunch, some people from poor regions in Fujian haven't got over that poor man's mentality, US cities now are less developed than Fujian cities with less opportunities, US was no longer that rich and developed as what they learned since their childhood, it'll take some time for them to change their mentality, slowly they are getting there, in another decade, they will fully get over their poor man's mentality.

Lol! It’s going to be a very very very far off date when you routinely start pulling dead Americans out of car trunks at your border because they think the US is so gloomy that they are willing to risk death to go to awesome China. LOL!!!

You have a failed state for many people and you should try admitting it. So much so that people are willing to die to escape it. Sure not all people are millionaires here in the US but it isn’t soooooo bad that countries are finding them dead trying to cross their borders.

I am just interested in what CNN and other west media would do after the 39 victims were known to be Vietnamese.
I agree with you on this one. It's true that US media won't obviously go much into details to criticise Vietnam political system/government for this incident unlike if it was China. However, China is a big country and an emerging superpower which obviously places the country at odds with he current world sole superpower and world police the US. So i think it's normal that the US will put more of its focus on China than say small countries like Vietnam.
