You get what you pay for, sub continent trains are mass haulers. The quality of trains will improve as we climb up the income chain. I can see considerable difference in quality in Indians trains now, comparing from my rides in childhood.

A brand new stuff will always look better than a used one, simple logic. I bet Pakistan and India have better Trains, a whole lot of them. Not sure about Bangladesh though.

Nope our trains cant compete with that new one. Let Alone state of the art chinese ones. Chinese railway is number 1 in the world and biggest and most modern as well.

Indeed, with small plastic ceiling fans on top the new ones are indeed best in the class as compared to ours.

May be my experience with trains is limited but i like chinese trains i traveled in all the time in china since 2009.

I can compare them to russian, kazakh and pakistani trains and chinese trains are the best among all these. Never been on european japanese or american trains.

Not much sure about the Chinese trains. But we also have similar coaches in many of our trains here in India. And a major overhaul is already in place for sometime now. Below is just one example.

I hope pakistan catches up. And every train should habe that as a minimum standard.
Chinese engines are also sleak.

I do prefer the chinese train in comparison to that photo u just posted.

That said having pakistani or indian people setting next to me on such a train would be 10x nicer than a chinese people. After all ur own are ur own.

Also i would really like to travel in this chinese new contraption i want to try it soon . looks something from the future.

I bet Pakistan and India have better Trains

Indian trains and overall railway system is way ahead of Pakistan's.

And the reason ?? A huge population over a bigger land mass and desperate situation to provide affordable transportation to all, nothing else. But Pakistan have better road transportation network I guess.

Moreover the Chinese are far better than both India and Pakistan combined on any given day.

The railway here in Pakistan was made worse deliberately so that private business of buses can prosper and this is why the road network became better. I really admire Indian railways.

Personally i would favor massive train system over Buses any day.

Does india have a underground subway in any city yet? We dont have one in pakistan although they always seem to plan it for karachi.
