China's liquid oxygen-methane rocket engine completes key test
I kind of wonder how private space companies can make their business profitable, it takes years of heavy investments without any returns

Because they are just by name private. The US gov is pretty much owned by the banking cartel.

US so called SpaceX receives massive financial support from US regime.
CEO of Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said:

"If you compare the price Musk sells his rockets to Pentagon at and the price he quotes for them on the market, you will see that this is nothing but pure dumping. In order to drive Russia from the market he sells launches at 40 to 60 million dollars while being paid 150 million for a launch by Pentagon,"

So much about US "free market economy" and "level playing field".

Many US companies achieved their current position only thanks to massive support from US regime. As Shapiro and Taylor wrote: "Boeing would not be Boeing, nor would IBM be IBM, in either military of commercial endeavours without Pentagon contracts and civilian research support"

Nice, China is going to dominate space soon while murica's pride elon is still busy trying to stop his space x crap from exploding during launch lol.
