Seems like a university student project. They took Tesla's open-source software and stuck a few cameras and sensors. I do not think they have invested in safety technologies and redundant safety systems. A brake pedal alone in the backseat is a joke. How many testing hours and miles have they completed???
Correction to the title: China's first self-driving taxis are hitting pedestrians in Guangzhou.

It's an open secret: Tesla cars are powered not only by batteries but by open-source software. Until recently, though, Tesla hasn't lived up to its obligations under open-source licenses, but now Tesla is finally releasing some of its Linux source code for the Model S and X cars.
The Tesla GitHub repository contains the code for the Model S/X 2018.12 software release. Specifically, it holds the system image on the Tesla Autopilot platform, the kernel sources for its underlying hardware, and the code for its Nvidia Tegra-based infotainment system.
Tesla will release additional open-source code for other systems in their cars soon. According to Tesla, "Work is underway on preparing sources in other areas as well, together with a more coordinated information page. We wanted to let you know about this material as it is available now while work continues on the other parts." The electric car thought-leader will also update its code as updated software releases are made.

But do you know for developed nations, they have problem getting enough driver? Many not willing to be a truck driver or think driving job is not prestige enough and therefore shelve away from it.It's high time countries should come up with a comprehensive AI policy.
Certain service sectors like Taxi driving/ride sharing are still sources of significant employment generation even in developed countries.
But do you know for developed nations, they have problem getting enough driver? Many not willing to be a truck driver or think driving job is not prestige enough and therefore shelve away from it.
They can go become a truck driver or bus driver which is short of manpower. Yet, nobody take those job. Thats is why autonomous comes in.....Driving is surely not a prestigious job but how many people have uni degrees to have white collar jobs? Plus, Uber is the prime source of income for those unemployed, or have just lost a job, even for kids who want to earn some extra bucks.
