casual: you live in the US. the culture there is way different towards girls than in china.

in china, there is bias from some rural parents against girls, but once the girls grow up and in society, even high school, they're treated no differently than boys.

in HUST's School of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering and chemical biology majors all have around 40% girls. My own girlfriend is a chemical engineering major.

Of course, your view may be biased by your specific department; the electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and physics departments are like shaolin temples

on topic: the government should seriously legalize prostitution already. There's no reason to keep it illegal, its everywhere and just serves as cheap propaganda to make it seem like the police is not incompetent. if it was legal, it could be taxed.

if they're worried about morals, don't we already have anti-drug and anti-tobacco education? just add anti-prostitution education, moral problems aren't for the government to decide.

One class means nothing. The world is not based on your class computer science, physics and engineering alone.

i agree that there's alot of women in college, but they're all in worthless party degree programs. it's the cold truth that women can't handle any real education.

A bit of an aside, I think how a society treats women is probably the best measurement of its overall health and capability for advancement.

The funny thing is prostitution is a legal business in China history up until 1949. Culturally speaking, it wasn't shamful to visit a prostitute. Many famous scholars and government officials openly visited such places.

I think as long as it is consensual, it should not be interfere with. However, the industry should be heavily regulated for health reasons, and also taxed.

Yeah I kind of agree with Below and you. The more authorities drive it underground, the more exploitive practices go unchecked. That said I'm not sure I want China to become a sex tourism destination.
