Co-operation between the armies of Vietnam and China played an important role in increasing the two countries’ comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also National Assembly Chairman, made the remark while receiving Senior Lieutenant General Guo Boxiong, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, in Hanoi on April 13.

He highly valued outcomes of the talks between the two countries’ high-level military delegations, urging the two Defence Ministries to exert efforts, closely work together in implementing signed agreements, and contribute to boosting Vietnam-China relations.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam will spare no effort together with the Party, State and people of China to elevate the Vietnam-China “comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership” to a new height, for the benefit of both countries’ people, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world, Party leader Trong affirmed.

Vice Chairman Guo Boxiong, who is also a Politburo member, stressed that with the two countries’ shared motto of “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive co-operation, long-lasting stability, future-oriented vision” and the spirit of “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, good partnership”, the “comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership” between the two parties, states and people of China and Vietnam had been unceasingly strengthened.

Party General Secretary Trong and Vice Chairman Guo emphasised that the Vietnam-China traditional friendship built and fostered by President Ho Chi Minh, President Mao Zedong and leaders of both countries and parties are valuable treasures of the two parties, states and people as well as a firm basis for development of each country.

Also the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Sen-Lieut-Gen. Guo Boxiong, describing his current visit to Vietnam as a vivid manifestation and contribution to promoting relations between the two Parties, armies and people.

Basing on the spirit of both comradeship and brotherhood, PM Dung proposed the two sides talk and seek fundamental and long-lasting measures that both sides are able to accept for the East Sea issue, contributing to peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world.

Sen-Lieut-Gen. Guo informed that his current visit to Vietnam aims at promoting relations between the two armies, bringing the military ties to equal the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership.

He said during the talks between the two armies, they agreed to increase exchange of high-level visits and strategies and sharing of experience in building and managing the army. They also agreed to continue co-operation in short-term training and exchange of military cadets, co-operation in rescue and improving capacity in response to non-traditional security challenges.

He also agreed on PM Dung’s viewpoint in solving the East Sea issue, affirming efforts to join with Vietnam to consider and solve issues that both sides acknowledge as differences.

The likelihood of that is low. China would need to take over Hanoi and install a friendly government. That would open the gateway to controlling all of South China Sea and Malacca Strait.

i would suggest that you let Vietnam decide what it wants rather that acting as if you control their country.....

i dont see any possibility to have that happening soon, if it had happened, it would not be eassy, look americ has been installing 'friendly' governmant as many as they can after WWII, and we can see the whole picture is not very desirable to america now !

but the realistic way to acheive mutral-trust is to build a very strong bilateral trading relationship, like the subtle relationship we share with U.S, even we are fundermantally different in culture politics and ideology``
